but, I really like pink. I have something pink in every room in my house. Only one room is painted pink, and that is my mother's room. I thought I would start today to show you a few of my favorite pink things.
This little hinged box is one of my treasures. I keep this in an antique oak side-by-side cabinet in our master bedroom, but I took it out to get a better picture to share. It has a lot of things going for it in my book - it's pink -it has gold trim - it has a portrait - it has little white dots - it has a pink rose inside the lid - and it is a hinged box. I like all of those things, and when I attended an antique show where a dealer was selling this little treasure, it was like destiny was putting us together. I have to admit that when I spotted this, my heart skipped a beat. There are so many things I admire rolled into this exquisite piece.
But alas, the price tag was way out of my reach. I've had this more than thirty years, and back then the material treasures I had acquired were scaled to where we were financially. And, as a very young couple, I can assure you this just wasn't in the same galaxy.
I was at the antique show with my mother and best friend, and they both agreed this was exquisite, but I admired it and moved along. When my husband got home that night, he asked me if I had bought anything. I really can't remember if I had or not, but I did tell him about this lovely hinged box I had seen. The next day was a weekend day, and my husband said he would like to go to the antique show, too. My ticket was for the weekend, so back we went to browse and enjoy. He actually spotted this little treasure without me even pointing it out. And, he said he thought we should purchase it. Well, I was thrilled at the thought, but I just thought it was too much for us. He insisted, it came home with us, and we scrimped on our spending the rest of the month to make up for our treasure.
I love this little box even more because he wanted me to have it. And, as much as I treasure it, it could never compare to how much I treasure him. I truly believe God created him just for me.

I firmly believe in soul mates, too, Beverly ! We are so blessed when we find them to share our life with!!
Beautiful pink box...I love pink, too, and have one room painted pink...a spare bedroom.
Have a wonderful weekend...

Beautiful little box. Odd thing: I love pink too and I was just thinking yesterday about photographing all my pink stuff and doing a blog post about it. Maybe I will someday. Hope you're having a great weekend, Beverly. --Susan

What a beautiful treasure! How is it possible that I don't remember when you bought it and brought it home. It's called AGE I guess. I do remember and treasure the wonderful times we had antiquing and shopping yard sales. I agree, your husband is the best of the best.

How sweet for your husband to want you to have that treasure. I am sure you value it more every year. It is very beautiful. By the way just wanted to say thanks for hosting that rooster parade. That was a great idea!
