My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is to honor a woman who was an incredible inspiration to all who came in contact with her. Kay Yow, the Hall of Fame basketball coach who became an inspiring figure while continuing to coach the North Carolina State women’s team during a long battle with cancer, died last Saturday in Cary, N.C. She was 66. Kay Yow was diagnosed in 1987, and throughout her over two decade fight against breast cancer she touched many.
Many basketball programs honored Kay Yow including her own team
which took the court in pink. Let us not falter in our ongoing fight the defeat all types of cancer.
A tribute to a wonderful coach.
This week we have one hundred fifty-one (151) participants in Pink Saturday. Wow!!! That is another record number of participants. There are thirteen new participants this week, and you will find them at the bottom of the list. Let's all take time to welcome them to Pink Saturday. It seems that so many of us have fun with the color pink. I hope you are all enjoying this as much as I am.
Please take the time to visit the other participants, and leave them a comment to let them know you stopped by to enjoy their pink. Pink Saturday is about having fun, and giving us a chance to meet others in the blogging community. That is why it is important that we get out and visit each other. I realize there are a lot of participants, and it is time-consuming to visit. But, you don't have to visit every one all at once - just as you have time over the next few days. I promise you it is worth the effort because you will not only see lots of pink, you will meet incredibly nice people. Everyone likes to receive comments on their contributions. Please refer to my post dated January 8 for more information about Pink Saturday.
Please remember that my reminder e-mail stated I needed your plan for participating today no later than 5 p.m. EST yesterday. If you don't see your name and link here it is because I did not receive your plan for participating by that time.
I want to thank those of you that take the time to leave me a comment. I love reading what you all have to say.

Hi Beverly! What a wonderful tribute your post is today to coach Yow. I'm sure she'll be missed by many. Today is my last Pink Saturday. Saturdays are a very hard day for me to blog and I had to come up with this hard decision to quit this very fun meme. I've enjoyed all the Pink ladies and getting to know you a little. I hope to see you around during the week instead of on the weekend :0)

Beverly,
What a sweet post for PS and tribute to a special person. I love how all the girls on the team wear pink. It also makes me think that "pink" is not just our little word for all things cute & romantic, it is a color that represents our fight against breast cancer and so "pink" also stands for strength and resilience.
Thank you so much for hosting & sharing in PS!

Beautifully done! I heard a news story about this woman- she was an incredible lady. I lost an incredible lady in my life to breast cancer in 2006 and I run a charity bake sale for the Susan Komen Fund in her honor annually. In 3 years we've raised $10,000 for the cause.
Thank you for welcoming me into your Pink Saturday group. I am really enjoying it and I never had so many comments on my blog.

I reluctantly returned from the mountains
late yesterday. Thank you for visiting me
for Pink Saturday. I love this event so much...
funny how something can take hold of you..the
color pink took hold of me as you know when I started
collecting the vintage fabric years ago. So now
the color and the attitude that goes with it
is a necessary part of each week...LOL :0)
Have a grand week,
