Happy Pink Saturday!
I want to thank you all for your prayers for my mother. She is eighty years old, and she fell off of our treadmill this past Tuesday. She has a serious break to her humerus at the ball where it connects to her shoulder. We chose the option of seeing how it heals over the next two weeks rather than surgery. We are praying that it will heal so she won't have to endure a surgery with a difficult recovery. My mother is in extreme pain, and it breaks my heart. Please keep her in your prayers.
Also, please understand that I am not going to be able to visit today. I did this post last night while my husband could listen for my mother, but I will not be able to visit today because I will have to stay near her.
My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is this Pink Lady apple. My cousin told me about these apples years ago, and I do think it is okay to love an apple. Not only are they pretty, but they are delicious. They are very crisp and a perfect balance of tart and sweet. When it comes to apples, I had always been a Granny Smith kind of girl. I can't stand Red Delicious apples.
Please take the time to visit other participants, and leave a comment to let them know you stopped by to enjoy their pink. Pink Saturday is about having fun, and giving us a chance to meet others in the blogging community. That is why it is important that we get out and visit each other. I promise you it is worth the effort because you will not only see lots of pink, you will meet incredibly nice people. Please refer to my post dated January 8 for more information about Pink Saturday.
Please remember that my reminder e-mail stated I needed your plan for participating today no later than 8 a.m. EST yesterday. If you don't see your name and link here it is because I did not receive your plan for participating by that time.
I want to thank those of you that take the time to leave me a comment. I love reading what you all have to say.
Here are our Pink Saturday participants:

I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I had exactly the same break in my left shoulder this past Thanksgiving. Extremely painful but they completely immobilized it for 4 weeks and I didn't have to have surgery. But, the physical therapy continues because the shoulder is frozen so there is that. Tell your mom I can really and truly sympathize and will certainly pray for her.
Beautiful pink lady apple too!

Dear Beverly - I'm praying for your mother. And for you, too! This isn't easy but I know you are right where God wants you - doing exactly what He's called you to do. Bless your heart! Not everyone would care for their older loved ones. I believe it's such a ministry we need to do if possible. Remember - God keeps the record and He sees the needs. Hers and yours. ~Adrienne~

Good morning Beverly, I think about your mom constantly. It just is unfair for her to suffer so much. I am praying for her recovery and her pain.
I can't say that I have eaten a Pink Lady apple. I certainly have not seen them in the grocery store. I too dislike Delicious apples red or golden. I like my apples to be tart. Mackintosh is my absolute favorite. I think loving an apple is VERY healthy. BIG smile here.
Have a good day and definitely stay with your mom. Most people probably do not know that your computer is two floors down from your mom's room. Hearing her there is not possible. Give her my love.
Love always...Jeanne

SO sorry to hear about your mother. I agree that waiting on a decision about surgery is good. She'd be in terrible pain either way and surgery at age 80 is something to really think about.

DEAR BEVERLY,
I AM SO VERY SORRY ABOUT YOUR PRECIOUS MOTHER. MY MOTHER IN LOVE HAD THIS SURGERY AT 84 YEARS OLD AFTER A FALL IN THE YARD. SHE HAS BEEN IN SEVERE PAIN EVER SINCE AND THE SURGERY NOW 3 YEARS LATER WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL AND DOES NOT HOLD THE SHOULDER IN PLACE.....SHE BROKE HER SHOULDER JOINT A PART.
I WILL PUT YOUR MOTHER ON MY PRAYER LIST. BLESS HER HEART. MY MOTHER IN LOVE AT 87 IS JUST AS FRESH IN MIND AS ANY 40 YEAR OLD. SHE HAS BATTLED BREAST AND LUNG CANCER...NEVER SMOKED A DAY IN HER LIFE...JUST RECENTLY HAD TO HAVE A PACE MAKER. SHE AND MY FATHER IN LOVE ARE AMAZING FOR THEIR AGE.
BLESSINGS

I prayed for your poor little mom again and for you too Beverly, as it must be very difficult to see her in so much pain.
I LOVE *Pink* Lady apples! They are tied with Gala apples as my favorites! I never heard of them before either, until a few years ago, my pastor mentioned them in one of his sermons! tee hee! Then I HAD to go get some and try them, and I've been eating them since! (I'm with you, I HATE red delicious apples, they have no taste anymore, what are they doing to them?)
I will keep you and your mom in my prayers,
Margie :)

Hi, Beverly, I'm holding your mom in my thoughts. My mother had a series of falls this autumn - it's a stressful time, hoping they will recover and hoping they won't fall again. My mom just had a hip replacement surgery, and seems to be doing well. She's 83.
They carry Pink Lady apples in our store - they are tasty!

Bev,
I am so sorry. My mother is 82 and I know how upsetting it is to see them suffer. I will keep her in my prayers and ask my mom (the prayer warrior) to pray for her too. I ask the Lord to fill you with his peace.
Blessings, Karen

Hope your mother has a sppedy and full recovery...I know how easily these injuries happen as our mothers age and what a blessing it is to be close enough to offer daily support. May she soon be feeling "in the pink"
Love your Pink Lady apple...in central Texas we have so few locally grown (mostly Galas)that we are at the mercy of the produce brokers as to what they ship. I'll be on the look out for the PL...I love a crisp apple!
And thanks for the PS posts...such a lovely network of like-minded souls. LaVerne

Dear Beverly, I am so sorry to hear about your mother.
I, too, don't like red delicious apple and Granny Smiths are one of my favorite apples. This Pink apple is also a great tasting tarty apple.
I am going to read about how to participate in your wonderful "Pink Saturday" events and would love to join in!
Even though I am not participating, I just wanted to let everyone know I am having a "Anything Pink Sale" on my website ~ Mimi's Rose Chenille Boutique ~ for the weekend! There are lots of pretty pink things there.
Once I find the post, I would love to participate in Pink Saturdays on my blog, you are so kind to host this event each week.

We chose the second option..and he healed just fine, but I do recall the agony of the first week!!!! It is a very painful break...poor thing. Will say a prayer for her.

I'm so sorry about your mom. I fell last October and had the very same break only mine was 1/2 inch below the ball and socket. Immobilizing brace for 8 weeks and my last therapy session last Friday. Still have a lot of strengthening to do, so I know just what she is going through. Be patient with her as the worst part is the frustration of not being able to do what you did before.

We are so blessed that my mom has been doing well after hip surgery. I hope your mother does not have to have surgery. I know it is hard on them at their age. My mom and dad had lunch with us today but my dad called this evening and said that she slept in her chair all day. He was concerned and I told him I am sure she is just so tied after not sleeping well in the hospital. But I really don't know. I will pray for your mom's recovery. She is blessed to have her daughter there to help. And I know God will help you.
God is good.
