Many snack crackers manufactured by Lance are commonly referred to as Nabs. The term Nabs today is used to refer to any type of snack crackers, most commonly those made by Lance, Inc.
Many in the southeastern United States prefer the term Nabs to mean the Toastchee brand of Lance crackers. The term has its origins back to 1924 when the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) introduced a snack, put in a 5-cent sealed packet called "Peanut Sandwich Packet". This term caught on and is still widely used today.
Would you like to share a pack of Nabs and a refreshing drink with me?

Sure I'll come share your Nabs with you...since I have never tried them before. Our brand names in Canada do not include Nabs...to my knowledge.

I used to eat peanut butter crackers for lunch years ago when I worked as an advertising sales person for a newspaper. I usually didn't have time for lunch so peanut butter crackers and a cup of coffee about 3 in the afternoon, while I was back in the office doing paper work was considered lunch. I haven't had them in years. I do remember I loved them.
Hugs,
Penny

Oh, my, no thank you! If I'm going to eat a snack, and you can bet I will, I prefer to make mine of the fruit and ice cream variety or the chocolate kind. Thanks so much anyway! And I'll do my tea hot or iced but never a Pepsi and always decaf!

Hi Beverly! I never heard the expression "nabs" or Lance products which I guess proves I'm a Yankee...lol We had a company up north called Drakes Cakes which made devil dogs yodels and ring dings, that I don't think sold many of their products in the south when I was younger. I had a good friend that moved to Texas that always had me send devil dog cakes to her in the mail as she missed them..lol
I had to catch up quite a bit with you today ..I went as far back as the post of Karen's pretty watercolor gift ( FiFi's too!)! My goodness where does the time go these days? It's because I'm not home as much because of summer activities, and I've been helping my 87 year old Mom quite a bit too. I've hardly had a chance to visit Jeanne, either, so my apologies to both of you. I hope you are having an enjoyable summer!
Hugs, Pat

Oh Beverly, I have loved Nabs since I was a kid. Daddy always bought them for us as a treat. Lance made some of the most wonderful treats. I would like a package of reduced Nabs also, and could I please have one of those Diet Pepsi's with lots of crushed ice and a lime also? How devine is that? I can go for that anytime day or night. Thanks for sharing Beverly, really nice memory that I had forgotten. Country Hugs, Sherry

I thought this post was just so cute. You see,for ages, I've had a small grocery store in Texas and I've carried Lance and Frito products for all these years, and have never heard them called that. Now, when those guys come by for an order, that's what I'm gonna ask for..we'll see what they say. lol. And I prefer my packages of peanut butter crackers with an icy cold coke over crushed ice... :). You know, NABS is a quicker way to say that..:)

I would love to share some with you! When we first moved to the south I had no idea what people were talking about when they said they needed some nabs. I caught on quick. Love those little crackers. I like to have mine with a diet coke too.

Oh, Beverly! what a great post! Just simply lovely! I do love nabs, be sure to have the cream cheese and chives, add a little vanilla syrup to my diet Pepsi and I shall join you in this delightful day of nabs.
