"The Lily Of The Valley" is a Christian hymn written by William Charles Fry (1837-1882) in London for the Salvation Army. Ira D. Sankey arranged the words to the music of "The Little Old Log Cabin In The Lane" composed by Will Hays. "The Lily Of The Valley" is a gospel standard and appears in almost all Protestant hymnals.

does my heart well to listen to a song from my childhood oh how my daddy could sing the words to that song I was so proud to sit next to him in church and listen to him sing
This is a great song and thank you for posting it I had not thought about it for quite a while

This really is an oldie. I remember singing it when I was a kid. I noticed it was sung a capella which is the way we sang in church most of my life.
Thanks for the memories.
Happy Birthday from me too.

Thanks for posting information on the gospel song "The Lily of the Valley." Just one correction on the details. It was Charles Fry himself who wrote Christian words to the old Kentucky minstrel song "The Little Ole Log Cabin Down the Lane." Mr. Sankey obtained a copy when he was in London and brought it back to America. To find out a bit more about Fry, you can check out my blog for May 30th. God bless.
