Hello Beverly,
Well, I wanted to be so many things...children dream a lot...
But I really wanted to be a pilot like my mother. I have started the training long ago and may be one day...I will be flying the skies...

Beautiful came first but then I thought about being a nurse. I dropped that when I realized I had to do things with "BLOOD"!! Yikes, sugar. That ended that dream! I went back and settled for being a business woman, lived that dream and am not living my dream of being a stay-at-home wife, mom, nana and am loving it over anything else I could have chosen.
xoxo,
Connie

When I was young (well I still think I am! LOL!) I wanted to be a olympic gymnast. That didn't last very long though. When I got into high school I struggled with what I wanted to be and still have no idea. What a fun question... certainly something I haven't thought about in many, many years. :)

When I was really young, about 5, I wanted to be a ballerina... Then by 10 I wanted to be a painter, and that dream to be an artist stayed for a long time. My college dreams were seriously dented when I was in a car accident and then had bad health afterwards for some years...During the time I tried selling stories and poetry for various publication, tring to make a go of it as a write, which never really panned out...LOL! Now I am back to art...but in a way that is very different from my original dream as a child, but I am loving it! Happy Day, Beverly :o) ((HUGS))

I use to read a series of books featuring a character called Cherry Ames. She was a nurse and her life seemed fun. So for a while I wanted to be her. Then I wanted to be a professional cheerleader -lol. I am happy being who I am today...

When I was young I never thought about what I wanted to be 'when I grow up.' I was busy with just having great fun with four sisters and a brother.
We lived on a dairy farm and our lives were full with chores and a busy farm life. Then we moved to Miami, Fl. and I was busy with a new adventure. It was high school before I started thinking about the future and what I would do in my life. I wanted to be someone glamorous, like a model. I did a term paper on being a hair dresser, but it wasn't what I really wanted. I ended up being a wife and mother and that was fine with me. Looking back on my involvement in my clubs, church, banking job (training tellers) and teaching Sunday school for 'many' years, I realize I would have 'loved' being a teacher. Yes, I wanted to be a teacher!!!
Love you...Jeanne

I wanted to be a horse trainer, a writer and a Mom.
My mom was an RN so I was pretty sure I didn't want to be a nurse and I didn't like other kids that much so I didn't want to be a teacher.

As a young teenage girl, I always read a book a day. I loved to read novels that were about the olden days. I decided I wanted to be a Lady someday, and go into my rose garden and pick flowers for my table, to decorate my home. So I went and had VocTec Class at school on Floral Design and On the job training in a Florist. I sold Home Interior, I took a interior design class, a class in cake decorating. Done lots more. I learned to spin, and weave. Now I have my parlor, where ladies would spin on there wheels, or do a little knitting, or needle work as I do, and receive their visitors for tea, as in the olden days. So I guess without knowing it I was doing things to make a lady someday. Have I achieved my Dream of becoming a Lady someday?

All I ever wanted to be was a Mommy. I am a Mommy (x3) and I have surpassed that and became a Grammy(x7). I would say that I have reached my goal and dreams. Ofcourse 17 years ago I went back into the work field, and find a job I truly love. I develop on line courses for training purposes, and I have so enjoyed doing this job. It is so much fun to use your talents and skills to do something that is fun and rewarding all rolled into one. I love it, and will be doing it till they throw me out. I have reached my goal in life. God has been good to me and saw my needs and provided. I have no complaints. Thanks for the wonderful question. Country hugs and love, Sherry

When I was a kid I used to say I wanted to be in Business Marketing... I didn't actually know what was involved in "Business Marketing," but it sounded cool and I got good reactions from grown ups when I said it!

I wanted to be a dancer. I loved classical ballet and studied for a number of years, but alas, an unsupportive family ended my dream. All was not lost though. I've heard it said that what you're good at is God's suggestion for your life's work. I was always a creative person, and over the last sixteen years, I've been blessed with the joy of painting. It's really true, when God closes a door, somewhere, he opens a window.

I wanted to be a teacher...and a mommy...and live far away from a farm. I'm not a teacher...and wouldn't want to be at this stage of my life...but I am a mommy and a grammy...and I live on a farm.

There weren't too many traditional career options for a gal when I was growing up in a rural community with limited funds. Becoming a "beautician" was what I figured I'd end up doing, but during my senior yr. in HS, I realized I wanted leave the isolation of a small town in "the country" and the quickest way to do that was to go to college. So, I found financing for my first year and off I went. I started out wanting to be a HS speech and drama teacher, but ended up as a sp. therapist. I loved working with the little kiddos, but I really wished I had gone the direction of my first instincts. I think I would have been very good at that and I'm certain I would have loved it.
Great question, Beverly! L,Dana

I have wanted to be a teacher as far back as I can remember. My favorite game was 'Go to the Head of the Class' ~ and I would play it for hours. I loved to play school with my friends - and I always wanted to be the teacher. So...when I grew up I became a teacher - and never regretted my choice. Great question once again!

Well, we played "army" when I was growing up. The boys in the neighborhood were the soldiers, and we girls were the nurses. However, I soon learned I did not do well in emergencies and did not like the sight of blood, my own or any one elses. We also played school a lot. I loved being the teacher. That is what I became as an adult, a schoolteacher.

Very good question and i have been sitting here thinking about it but to be honest, I never dreamed of being a "particular thing". I thought I would marry and have children but really that is all. I was in Nursing School for awhile and decided that was not for me. It is strange that I never really thought about it like most do.

Hi Beverly
I think I've always wanted to be a nurse since I read the book "Nancy Nurse" as a young child. When I read the "Cherry Ames, Student Nurse" series as a young teen-ager that clinched it! I was an RN many years but now enjoy retirement.
Hugs, Pat

When I was very young, I always wanted to be a dancer like Ginger Rogers or Ann Miller...then, after high school, I wanted to be a flight attendant until I realied that, at the time, you could not wear glasses and I did. THEN, I wanted to be a model...then, a wife..then a mother...now a grandmother and great grandmother. GOOD GRIEF, i think I qualify for Susan's Met Monday!! Hahahah

I wanted to be a nurse. I never thought I would have the priveledge of becoming one, until about two years ago, when I decided to stop struggling at jobs I hated and start working towards the goal I set out for myself so many years ago. I have been in school now for two years, and it hasn't been easy I am up against youngins, but I still have some life left in me.
Great post.
Cheers,
Heidi

All I ever wanted to be for as long as I can remember was a mommy and a teacher. I am a mom to three beautiful children and while I am not a certified teacher I do work in a school as an Educational Assistant and teach special needs children.

The only thing I truly remember ever wanting to be is a writer. And Nancy Drew.

Of course, when I was really young I wanted to marry a prince so I could be a professional princess! Then I thought it would be fun to be a glamorous movie star like Grace Kelly who got to be a princess as well! What a great job! When I was 11 the astronauts landed on the moon We went to NYC on vacation that summer and went to the parade for them. I was positive I was going to be an astronaut, even though people kept telling me girls couldn't do that. (Bravo, Sally Ride!) When I found out how much math and science was involved (I am definitely not a left brained person) I decided to just cheer them on. At some point during my teenage years I decided that all I really wanted to be was a wife and mom which is what I ultimately ended up doing. Although, in the back of my mind, I think I could be a really good CEO! :)

Beverly, Those framed postcard are hilarious.
It has been a long time since I was a little girl and I really don't remember what I wanted to be, but I can tell you I never dreamed I would live on a ranch and raise goats...but love and life come along and here I am ...a happy camper!
Have a great weekend, I know you are working on Pink Saturday alread.

The three things I remember wanting to be, obviously at different times, were a dentist (pretty short lived), a detective and an artist...maybe also a singer or an author, but detective and artist were the two main stays.
