Yesterday I introduced you to my cousin, Mike, and asked that you go meet him.  I'm including this in my post again today.

I want you all to meet my cousin, Mike.  Actually, Mike is my cousin by marriage.  He has been married to my cousin for twenty-four years.  Wow!  I had to open my genealogy program to find out just how long they had been married.  It seems they will be having the famous silver wedding anniversary next time around.

Anyway, it seems like I've known Mike forever.  And, I definitely remember the first time I met him.  You see, I am 5'2" tall, and Mike is very, very tall.  (Just how tall are you, Mike?)  I just kept looking up and up, and there he was.  My mother's family is what some might say "on the short side", and Mike seems very tall to all of us.

Mike loves my cousin, and that is important to me.  They have four children, and they are grandparents, too.  Young grandparents.  Wink!

This weekend I received a telephone call from Mike about starting a blog, and ... he did it.

I am asking that you all go introduce yourselves to my cousin Mike.  His first post is so moving; it is about his experience taking God into his life.

So, head on over to Mike at Finding My Religion.  Be sure to say hello, and tell him I sent you.  (I've already told him how nice you all are.)  I believe he is going to have some important things to discuss with us in the future.  Let's all help Mike get started toward a great blogging experience.

Whose Memories

Yesterday I mentioned that my husband and I had gone for a drive Sunday.  When we saw this old and neglected home, I just had to take a picture to share.

We have all seen deserted homes, haven't we?  I always wonder who lived here.  Who worked this land?  Did the children play in the yard until they were old enough to work in the fields with their parents?  Can you envision the little boy swinging and playing from a rope tied to a branch high up in the tree?  I can almost smell the scent of freshly baked pies - baked with apples from the apple tree just outside the door.  Did the family pack a picnic and walk to the nearby lake on Saturday afternoons?

Just whose memories began here?

Yesterday my husband and I went on a drive to view the gorgeous Autumn colors.  And, look what we found.  Morning glories for Blue Monday.  These morning glories are covering a mailbox.  I wonder how the mail delivery person manages?

 

When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder

Please visit Spiritual Sunday to fill your heart with joy.

This favorite hymn was written by James Black.  He was calling roll for a youth meeting at his Methodist church in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 1893.  The name of a young girl, Bessie, was not answered, and he was crestfallen at her absence.  James commented, "O God, when my own name is called up yonder, may I be there to respond!"  When he returned home, he went to the piano and wrote the words and music to this hymn.
