Pink Saturday - July 31, 2010


Happy Pink Saturday !


This week we have one hundred eighty-four (184) participants in Pink Saturday.  There are five new participants, and you will find them at the bottom of the list.  Let's all take time to welcome them to Pink Saturday.  All participants are listed in the order in which they began participating.

Thank you, Beverly, for allowing me to share my blog site with you every week.  I have been actively posting every Pink Saturday for almost 2 years now which was about the time I started blogging.  I enjoy meeting so many wonderful people and so love reading everyone's pink posts each week.  A little bit about me:  I have been quilting for about 9 years now and it is a true passion of mine.  I have also stumbled upon making pillows and pincushions and so many other little lovelies.  No matter what I create, design or sew, I always find my way back to quilting.  My style is definitely traditional and the majority of the quilts I make are baby quilts.  Primarily because I love to give them as gits and my sewing machine cannot quilt anything larger!  I hope you enjoy your visit to Quilts Galore and More blogspot.  Funny, I normally post so many of my pillows on my blog, but today I will be featuring all my recent quilts I've made as well as a favorite one of mine that I won in a bidding tug-a-war on e-bay a few years ago.

I am so excited to be featured this ...Pink....week-end on our sweet friend's blog.  Thank you, Beverly; it takes a lot of time and effort to host us!  I welcome you to "Pink Sugar Castle"....where God is the King of Kings....I am a wife and mother of seven...four are grown and gone from this rosy castle...two still live here and I homeschool them, one is making his home in heaven...I also have ten grand babies...life is full!  I love to scrapbook...make cards..decorate..make something out of nothing..crochet...sew..I love roses..vintage...fresh paint...lace... and of course PINK!


  • Each week I see how much love & attention is put into the Pink Saturday posts by our hostess, Beverly, truly a labor of love.  I have made many new & steadfast friends through blogging which I never expected & am completely delighted about.  This pathway has shown me such talented people throughout our world who can connect via blogging.  I adore Pink Saturday because it allows all of us to be frivolous girls, to play with images, thoughts, and to be outrageously over-the-top.  Saturday is my time for whimsy & wit, when I put my jewelry designing aside, take a big breath & reach out to find something splendid to show you.  I invite everyone to share my posts, I love your comments & making new friends.  Happy Pink Saturday to each of you.  Marsha @ Splenderosa


    A move across country landed me in search of a new way to spend my days (and nights).  As a born creator and lover of all things "chien" (dog), developing high-end dog bedding and jackets and opening an internet business seemed like a no-brainer.  My French heritage offered up the perfect name.  Ah, but to sit and blog was a different monster. It was primarily on the advice (and a little "bull dogging" from friends), that I begrudgingly decided to offer both quality canine couture and a little insight into life with our five dogs and my wonderful (husband/other half/love of my life, hee hee).  It didn't take long to realize that I had lots to say.  Everyday nuances and major events became instant ideas for the blog (and the dogs so love it when I feature one of them!)  I hope you'll visit Maison Mutt, mes amies, and let's get inspired together!  Merci, Beverly, for the honor of being featured and the new friends I have made within Pink Saturday!

    • My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is this wonderful Swan Lake Fairy Tree which was gifted to me by Tobi.  Do you know Tobi at The Pink Pixie Forest?  If not, you need to hurry over to meet her.  She is a beautiful and enchanting sweetheart, and she and her pixies create beautiful things that belong in a wonderland.  My tree is exquisite, and it has a special place of honor in my studio, and the ballerinas, swan and sparkling jewels brighten my days.  Thank you, Tobi, and thank you for letting me use your picture.

    Ridgeway Cantaloupe

    Ridgeway Cantaloupe


    We moved to North Carolina twenty years ago, and I've heard people raving about Ridgeway cantaloupes every summer.

    This past Monday, we both had the day off of work, so we drove north to Warren County and the rural community of Ridgeway.  We found produce stands along the road, and we stopped at one a family had in their front yard.  Not only did they have great cantaloupes for sale, they were an incredibly nice and friendly family.

    One of the most exquisite tastes ever to come out of North Carolina is the Ridgeway cantaloupe.  The third Saturday of July every year, Ridgeway hosts their Cantaloupe Festival.  The "Slice of Life Celebration" is an all day event, with fun and games, arts and crafts, revisiting history, country music with plenty of southern country eating, and activities for families and the public to enjoy.  The festival is sponsored by the Ridgeway Historical Society and the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department.  Ridgeway is located on U.S. 1 between Henderson and Norlina.

    We missed the festival by one week this year, but it will be on our calendar next July.

    Blue Crabs On Blue Monday

    Thank you to Sally at Smiling Sally for hosting Blue Monday.

    The meat from blue-clawed crab is known for its delicious flavor and delicate texture.  There are three grades and each grade has a distinctive flavor, texture, and appearance.

    The three grades of crabmeat are:

    • Lump - The largest pieces of meat from the body, and also the most expensive.
    • Backfin - This meat is used for crab cakes, casseroles and soups.
    • Claw and leg - The claw and leg meat is darker and has a reddish color.  Many consider it the most flavorful.  It is often used in pastas and dips.

    Pink Saturday Featured Blogs


    Beverly, thank you so very much for the opportunity to share on your blog :)  Up until February of this year, I hadn't taken my blog too seriously.  I'd felt self conscious about "sharing myself" with people, and worried that nobody would be interest in what I had to say.., but right around Valentines day something changed, and I began to see my life in a new light.  I felt compelled to share the beauty and love I experience on a daily basis (when possible).  It is my daily "practice", like a prayer or meditation to seek beauty and love in the small, simple and often overlooked, and share with any friends who wish to drop by and read my blog and look at my images.  I invite you to drop by "A Year Of Finding Love", and look forward to meeting you making new friends.  With love, Neinah


    I have only been "blogging" for a few months, and already I am totally loving this new world.  My blog started out as this simple "diary" just for me, but thanks to Beverly and Susan at Between Naps On The Porch, I have started posting pictures of my tablescapes and looking for things that are pink plus so much more!  I live in Kleinmachnow (Berlin) Germany with my husband, our son and our cat, Will.  I guess I have always been a "crafty" person - starting with making colored window pictures to needlepoint.  Of course, scrapbooking has been a big part of my creative side, and I hope soon to be able to use my scrapbooking skills on my blog.  Not only has blogging allowed me to share my world with you, but it also serves as an inspiration to me.  Here's to a long and happy relationship here in cyber space!  Happy Pink Saturday Everyone.


  • Happy Pink Saturday to all you pink gals, and a HUGE thank you to Beverly for featuring my blog this week.  I am a Christian wife and homeschool mom.  Although I live in the 21st century, I am really a mid-20th century kinda gal...I love 40's fashions, 40's music, and 40's movies.  Actually, I am addicted to classic-era movies and even blog about them once a week, with a Friday movie review.  (Truly, Hollywood just doesn't make 'em like they used to.)  I love teacups and teapots...flowers...the colors pink, green, turquoise, and white...picnics...all things Southern...all things feminine...and all things vintage.  I also LOVE being a mom, and despite being in my 40's with teenage children, I am walking the path of adoption.  With the exception of cross-stitch and scrapbooking, I am not particularly crafty...though I wish I was.  I enjoy blogging about family times, my teacup collection, home decorating, thrift store finds, classic movies, and anything else I think would bring a bit of beauty into my day.  I invite you to visit...with the sincere hope that doing so would bring a bit of beauty to your day.

    Beverly, Thank you so much for featuring StoneGable this week, and for being our sweet pink hostess for more than 2 years!  I'm Yvonne, and delighted to be with all Pink Saturday friends!  A joyful wife, mother of 2, Bible teacher, Speaker, blogger of 10 months and international woman of mystery (no, not really~I just threw that in because it sounds so fun!).  My blog, StoneGable, is all about the domestic adventures and antics of daily life!  I have a love and passion for all things that go into making a home.  Decor, cooking, tablescaping, gardening, keeping house, family, friends and living with a grateful and positive attitude!  I am a teacher, so I have a natural inclination to make many things I do into tutorials.  It is my heart's desire that when you visit StoneGable you feel more like a friend than a guest, and that you leave StoneGable uplifted and wanting to visit again soon.
