Pink Saturday is indeed sharing in a very special event today. To make this time even more meaningful, we have offered the opportunity for Pink Saturday participants to share an inspirational and uplifting personal story. As you visit the blogs of those participating today, you will have the honor of touching the hearts and souls of those who want to share.
I grew up in a Christian home, and I've always had a strong faith in God. But, like so many, I liked to feel I was in control of my life. It is often those very difficult times in our lives that teach us that we really aren't in control. It is those times when we finally accept that our lives are in God's hands. God has always been there for me, and carried me when it felt like life was so hard that I had to remember to breathe. I believe God gave us the knowledge to make wise choices in our lives, and He stands with us as we live each day. It is my life philosophy that we can mark our success in life by what we do to make each day better for others.
You know how at work you have "work friends". Those are usually the people you work with every day. And, you know how if you stop and think about it some of those "work friends" are different. As we work each day, we realize that some of our "work friends" are very special. They are the ones that always have a smile to share, are always willing to lend a helping hand, and will take the time to listen when we need a friend. About eight years ago, I had the pleasure to work with just that kind of man. He was one of those special people that made our days at work better. I believe you could have asked anyone working in our department, and they would have agreed he was a genuinely nice person. So many of us in that group have moved on to work in other departments, but we are always glad to run into each other along the way.
This special man I'm telling you about is Mitch Meacham. I knew that he was a man who loved his family, loved life and was always kind. I often think of the fun times those of us in our department had together. We worked hard, but we enjoyed our days together.
Over three and one-half years ago I received a call from one of my co-workers to tell me Mitch had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. The first thing I did was pray. Like so many families, my family has been touched by cancer, and I know how difficult that journey is. But, we've all heard about pancreatic cancer, and I was devastated for Mitch and his family. There were days I would see Mitch in the elevator, and all I could do is smile. My heart was breaking for him, but I knew he didn't need my tears. He needed my prayers. And, I have never missed a day praying for him.
Then, six months later I received another call that Mitch had married his high school sweetheart. The two of them had united their families to become one. I was amazed, and knew this must be a very special woman with a beautiful heart. I personally know what the love of your spouse can mean in your life.
And, here it is three and one-half years later, and I have the honor and thrill of sharing Mitch, his wife and there uplifting story with you. Mitch is an absolute miracle. Three and one-half years ago, he was told he had six months to live. And, by God's grace he lived those six months, and he is still living each day. God has given Mitch the strength he needs, and He has placed people in his life that he needs. And, there are many people praying for Mitch and his family. I know that your heart will be touched by my friend, Mitch, and please add him to your prayer list.
You'll be glad you did.
And just look at that pink shirt Mitch wore as a tribute to Robin.

Bev, I reread the story about Mitch and I love that he wanted to meet Robin. The two of them together in that picture look like they are beaming God through their faces. You know Bev, this isn't just a celebration of miracles, but a reminder of how many good beautiful Godly people there are out there in such a time as this in the world. A reminder for sure that so many people centered in God live here in the Land of Blog, like you!

Good morning my dearest friend. This post today is so special and meaningful. I KNOW how much time you put into this special day for the Miracle Makeover Party. I have visited the first two bloggers you featured and I have already had a good cry. Their stories are so heartfelt. I don't know if I can get through so many awesome miracle stories. I cried last night just writing about Andrea. Sigh. It is always a good thing to realize how blessed we are. I am blessed to have your as a true and caring friend.
Guidepost is awesome for co-sponsoring this wonderful story of Collette's story. I needed a tissue when I saw her face at the wonderful bedroom makeover reveal. Kelee's angel is beautiful and so is the bedroom. She is a beautiful caring person and the video of the makeover is so heartwarming. God's work is very real when you see all of the volunteers working so hard to help a person who needs inspiration, hope and love. I am humbled by the work of this group of caring individuals and Guide Post's part in this awesome story.
Love you very much,
Jeanne

Wonderful video isn't it Beverly? I just couldn't post a personal story about my sister - she didn't make - it so my post is basically just a link to you or Kelee. It's such a wonderful cause. My sister had an absolutely beautiful apartment and never went to the hospital - with the help of hospice I took care of her at her home and when she needed a hospital bed we turned the dining room into a sunroom with her real bed for naps. The last 2 days we had the prettiest softest sheets on her hospital bed and a blanket like velvet, fresh flowers and favorite music playing. Her priest came and we had a communion service around her bed. So she got what she wanted...to die at home in beautiful surroundings. The week after Halloween we put up her Christmas tree while she was asleep. By then time was confused anyway and she died right before Thanksgiving. So that's my story - don't know why but I couldn't write it last night. Thanks, Nancy

I am going to cry all day today! Beverly your story and friendship with Mitch is a miracle in itself. Colette is a true angel in disguise with Kelee and all of the people involved in this wonderful story. I am so grateful to know each and everyone of you here at Pink Saturday as well as Spiritual Sunday. I hope you will visit me soon. I have posted a two part miracle makeover post on my blog. I believe God sets people in our path for a reason. I am so glad I know you and everyone here. I am overwhelmed emotionally that so many can give so much to help someone. God is good. Blessings to everyone here today. Hugs Anne

Hi Beverly,
I know I can't be the only one who has trouble finding the Comments link! There is so much wonderful material on your blog each week that it's sort of hidden. I wonder if it might possibly be enlarged, somehow, or maybe just something that says it's HERE or whatever. Some blogs have it at the top, you know. Anyway, just thought you might get more comments if it were easier to find!
Lovely story this week.

My Dear Sweet Beverly...
Happy Pink Saturday (loved the pink shirt ofcourse) and Happy Miracle Weekend.
You have such a beautiful heartwarming story about your dear friend, Mitch.
I am so thrilled that his dream of meeting Robin Roberts was answered, as it was
such a small request for a little bit of happiness. He has beaten the odds, and
will be sharing a wonderful testimony with many each day in his life. That is what
God wants us to do, share our miracles with each other. Give each other HOPE for
tomorrow, and FAITH in everything that we do. I so love to share.
This has been such a hard year for me. Losing practically all of my voice, I shake
and stutter when I try to talk. The dr.s say it was so much knocking of the vocal
cords from my violent coughing for those 4 months of illness. The one thing I have
found out though, I can sing perfectly fine. Your vocal cords are used in a different
way when you sing. So I can still sing like an angel, even though my voice has changed
tremendously. I am thrilled that I can get up every morning, and feel the sun on my
face and call it a GREAT day. I too am a miracle. I am just thrilled to be alive.
I am so enjoying all the stories today. It has been a wonderful day for me. Thank you
for sharing your story as well. You always light up my day, even when I am having a
dark one. Your blog seems to runneth my teacup over with love. Thank you sweet Beverly.
Many, many hugs and so much love, Sherry

Hi Beverly,
Your story about Mitch is so
inspiring. It truly is the
power of prayer at work.
God does indeed answer us
although sometimes not exactly
as we have requested.
He has the grand plan and
knows all of the details
that we would not or could
not possibly understand.
I so thrilled that Mitch
is still here..His mission
from God has not been fulfilled
yet.
I truly believe that we each
were given a purpose and mission
for our lifetime. I seem to stay
spinning in circles at times
to decide what the next excitement
in life will be. ♥
Happy {PiNk} Day,
Stephanie ♥

wow! Yay for Mitch and his sweetheart! She is one tough strong woman. I am not sure what I would say if a man told me he wanted to marry me but he might only live for 6 months and be very sick most of that time... WoW! And what a strong man to fight this fight. And just - wow - I am so excited for him and I never heard of him until 5 minutes ago. yay God!!!
