Pink Saturday is indeed sharing in a very special event today. To make this time even more meaningful, we have offered the opportunity for Pink Saturday participants to share an inspirational and uplifting personal story. As you visit the blogs of those participating today, you will have the honor of touching the hearts and souls of those who want to share.
I grew up in a Christian home, and I've always had a strong faith in God. But, like so many, I liked to feel I was in control of my life. It is often those very difficult times in our lives that teach us that we really aren't in control. It is those times when we finally accept that our lives are in God's hands. God has always been there for me, and carried me when it felt like life was so hard that I had to remember to breathe. I believe God gave us the knowledge to make wise choices in our lives, and He stands with us as we live each day. It is my life philosophy that we can mark our success in life by what we do to make each day better for others.
You know how at work you have "work friends". Those are usually the people you work with every day. And, you know how if you stop and think about it some of those "work friends" are different. As we work each day, we realize that some of our "work friends" are very special. They are the ones that always have a smile to share, are always willing to lend a helping hand, and will take the time to listen when we need a friend. About eight years ago, I had the pleasure to work with just that kind of man. He was one of those special people that made our days at work better. I believe you could have asked anyone working in our department, and they would have agreed he was a genuinely nice person. So many of us in that group have moved on to work in other departments, but we are always glad to run into each other along the way.
This special man I'm telling you about is Mitch Meacham. I knew that he was a man who loved his family, loved life and was always kind. I often think of the fun times those of us in our department had together. We worked hard, but we enjoyed our days together.
Over three and one-half years ago I received a call from one of my co-workers to tell me Mitch had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. The first thing I did was pray. Like so many families, my family has been touched by cancer, and I know how difficult that journey is. But, we've all heard about pancreatic cancer, and I was devastated for Mitch and his family. There were days I would see Mitch in the elevator, and all I could do is smile. My heart was breaking for him, but I knew he didn't need my tears. He needed my prayers. And, I have never missed a day praying for him.
Then, six months later I received another call that Mitch had married his high school sweetheart. The two of them had united their families to become one. I was amazed, and knew this must be a very special woman with a beautiful heart. I personally know what the love of your spouse can mean in your life.
And, here it is three and one-half years later, and I have the honor and thrill of sharing Mitch, his wife and there uplifting story with you. Mitch is an absolute miracle. Three and one-half years ago, he was told he had six months to live. And, by God's grace he lived those six months, and he is still living each day. God has given Mitch the strength he needs, and He has placed people in his life that he needs. And, there are many people praying for Mitch and his family. I know that your heart will be touched by my friend, Mitch, and please add him to your prayer list.
You'll be glad you did.
And just look at that pink shirt Mitch wore as a tribute to Robin.

Thank you so much for asking me to join in on this special Pink Saturday. I have always loved that it stands for Breast Cancer Awareness! I do love seeing Colette's room! I know from sleeping in a chair with ottoman, then a recliner, then to my hospital bed just how depressing life can be. Such a lovely cottage look, to brighten her many days ahead. I finally made a daybed look for my hospital bed, but then it is in my parlor, my husband asks why do I not go sit in there anymore. My wonderful room turned into a sick room. So I am so happy for her to have a special healing room to be in as she takes on her fight! What happiness she shall awake to each day! Guide Post is a wonderful book, my friend in Florida sends hers to me. I just love the bed and colors they have chosen for this special makeover! I pray for her a Miracle today and many days ahead of healing! A lovely room for a Lovely of Hope!

Dear Beverly, I'm blown away by the outpouring of Love and prayers for Colette. I remember early on that we all started praying for her and I sent her a love package. I never heard more after a while about it so I'm so glad such an effort was put forth on her behalf. I am a long-time Guidepost fan so I hope we reach our goals!!
Blessings and apologies for not having my post up. I've been very ill with sinus infection, fever and food poisoning. I sure meant to join in.

I have always believed in giving back to my world in any way possible. I currently mentor a few teenage girls whose lives are fragile, hoping to give them confidence, experience, knowledge, prayer & excitement to face the future, to remain in school, to rise high above, so high they can soar.
What you guys are doing here is fabulous, I applaud it. If each one of us
spent 30 minutes a day trying to make someone else's lives better the entire universe would be a better place. My grandmother, the real Mom-Mom,
simply said, "whereever you go, leave a good ripple).

Beverly,
what a wonderful post and cause to be involved in. I have always enjoyed Guidepost as does my mom. I was so touched by Colette's and Mitch's story. I lost my sister to cancer 6 years ago and the video really hit a tender cord with me. The stories of Mitch and Colette are very touching. You are an amazing lady! Good luck reaching your goal:-) ~♥

IS THERE ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD WE CAN'T DO TOGETHER?
When we focus on what we have in common. When we move past separation and into the ONE.
Thank-you one and all for these days of HOPE. YOU have made a difference . YOU by focusing on the positive--the light and compassion--
have adjusted the energy field of the world. Light always diminishes darkness and grows goodness.
Thank-you Miss Beverly, the sainted one.

How great is that Guidepost is sponsoring this.
I loved all the makeover and I loved the look on Collette's face when she saw it the first time.
The color scheme is fantastic.
