Happy Pink Saturday !

 

October is upon us, and this is the month designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Many wonderful bloggers will be using this opportunity to spread the important message and hope of the movement.

I received an e-mail this week from Karen Valentine.  Karen is the talented lady that hosted the Where Bloggers Create Event this year and last year.  Karen has created a special button in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, and she invites you all to visit her blog to obtain the button and share it on your blog.

Here is what Karen had to say:

My name is Karen Valentine and I have 2 blogs. One is My Desert Cottage, and the other is for my blog design business, Valentine Design. I have read many of the blogs that have hooked up with you for your pink Saturday parties, and while I usually have no pink to share, this week is a little different. In honor of breast cancer awareness month I have created a pink ribbon button that I would like to share with all women in blogland to remind us all to do monthly checks etc.. I would like to link up to your Pink Saturday post this week.

This week we have one hundred seventy-one (171) participants in Pink Saturday.  There are five new participants, and you will find them at the bottom of the list.  Let's all take time to welcome them to Pink Saturday.  All participants are listed in the order in which they began participating. 

Please take the time to visit other participants, and leave a comment to let them know you stopped by to enjoy their pink.  Pink Saturday is about having fun, and giving us a chance to meet others in the blogging community.  I promise you it is worth the effort because you will not only see lots of pink, you will meet incredibly nice and talented people.  Please refer to my post dated January 8 for more information about Pink Saturday.

Hello! I am excited to be a featured pinky blogger this week! First I’d like to send a big thank you to Beverly for hosting us every Saturday.  My name is Jill (known in blogland as Jillian, a nickname started by a close friend) and I began blogging three years ago in August of ‘07. I had just put my TV career on hold to start a family when I discovered blogging. I’ve been a fan of pink since high school, which was probably influenced by my ballet class and the color my Mom and I chose for my room at home. My first blog was Jillian’s Pages (http://www.jillianspages.blogspot.com ) I shared my love for vintage and my adventures with my Dear Hubs. After launching my own virtual antique store and blog, Bella Rosa Antiques, (http://www.bellarosaantiques.blogspot.com ) my daughter was soon born. A year later I decided to make life easier and combine my two blogs into one. The world of blogging has completely surpassed my expectations and I'm so happy to be a part of it. Happy PiNk to everyone!  During all of the transition with selling our home in one state, moving to an area we didn't want to be in for Thomas to come out of retirement...and all of it done so we could reach our goal of buying our home in the TN Smoky Mountains {and so much more in between all of this} Really just lived out a suitcase and hauled a bunch of yarn and my crochet hooks since everything else was in storage.  Pink Saturday saved my sanity during all of the times of wondering what would happen next in life. The weekly gathering gave me a sense of stability in the midst of so much uncertainty. We had a plan and a goal but then the economy went haywire so everything seemed to become a huge ?? mark for us.  Now that we are all settled..{yes, in our home in the Smokies as we had planned} I still look forward to putting up my post each week even though these days I find that I'm a lot busier and don't have as much time to visit as I did when I was traveling. Even so....I like the feeling of being connected to this great network of ladies.  I want to thank you from the depth of my heart for keeping me company over and over again and removing that feeling of being alone while I lived in that tiny apartment. Thomas was working 12 hours or more each day. I truly feel honored to have met so many kind souls that like to talk and share their lives. ♥  Thanks for being there for me for 104 Pink Saturdays and counting! • Susan at Black Eyed Susan's Kitchen

When I started my blog, more than three years ago, I thought it would be a way for me to keep in touch with customers who I knew that I would miss when I closed my store. Little did I know that there would be so much more to this "blogging" world. The friendships that have been forged, and the creative outlet alone should be enough, however, I have also learned so much through reading so many other blogs. Finding Pink Saturday on Beverly's How Sweet the Sound, was just one of the weekly challenges I wasn't sure I would be up to, but it has been a pleasure thinking pink once a week, and a very enjoyable challenge to meet. This has turned out to be one of my favorite forums. Thanks Beverly, and thanks to all who read what I write.  ♥, Susan

 

• Valrie at Poems My Way

I started blogging in February 2010 with the One World One Heart event to make friends and regain my self esteem. I had been critically ill for several years, lost all of my posessions, permanently disabled and had finally reached a point in my physical rehabilitation where I could begin rebuilding my life. Through the encouragement of my sister and best friend Vanessa, I quickly began making friends though my poetry blog.  self  therapy and to share my experiences spiritually with others.  The Cans For Cookies US TROOPS blog was started this past July in honor of my Marine son and two nephews in the army serving our country. The third blog is my professional forum for reading comprehension, Reading Doctor Connections. Bev was one of the first blogger friends I made and through this angelic forum I have grown to over 80 followers. I am very busy now, work 2 jobs, am completing my doctoral degree In Teaching & Learning, and am aslo a Mary Kay Skin Care Consultant. I am also a breast cancer survivor. Visit my blogs today as I honor my friends and relatives who have also recovered or join the LORD through a courageous battle against this deadly disease. Help me reach my 100th follower this weekend and enter my giveaways, a different one on each blog and you may enter all three! Good Morning, Beverly! Love the badge!! I am so glad that so many of us Pink Sat gals will post about Breast Cancer Awareness during this month. We have all been touched by this awful disease....either personally or though a dear friend, relative or cyber friend.

I hope your Pink Sat. is great.....I'm madly cleaning and decorating for Halloween....having a little BD Party for my hubby on Sunday (shhhhh.....he's really getting OLD!!) Just family, but my house has suffered from lack of attention. Now my show next weekend will suffer from lack of attention, too!!! Oh, well, you only hit Medicare Age once in your life!! :)

Hi Bev, Happy Pink Saturday. My post today is a Breast Cancer Awareness tribute to my friend Judy. Although she has had breast cancer twice, in her strength and with the help of the Lord she is cancer free. Her husband died and left her a widow. He had built her gorgeous home on weekends with his friend Ralph. Over time through healing, Judy and Ralph fell in love. Next weekend I am the photographer for her wedding. They are getting married in New Hope, Pennsylvania at a gorgeous little Inn tucked along a sweet country road.

A beautiful story of Healing and Hope. The Lord surely returns our ashes for beauty.

What a beautiful share this morning. I love the badge. So pretty
and it makes me thing of Amy when I see the butterfly. She so loved
butterflies. She didn't die of breast cancer, but I tell you cancer
is cancer, and it has taken so many of our family members, from all
of us beautiful pinkies. We are seeing and hearing so many stories
today.

The nice thing about it, we are all sharing, which you my
friend have brought about for all of us, with Pink Saturday. We have
all became a family of caring and sharing. I for one I am so thrilled
