My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is a very, very short story.
Once upon a time there was a lady who really liked the color pink, even though her very favorite color was yellow. This lady's name was Beverly, and Beverly was lucky enough to host the most spectacular weekly event known as Pink Saturday.
There was another lady. A truly beautiful, kind, loving and very fun lady. This lady was named Claudie, and she lived at Bubblin' Over. We will refer to this lady as Pink Princess Claudie because she was a real lover of pink and she was like a very kind princess.
One day a box came in the mail for Beverly, and it was filled overflowing with beautiful things. This gift was sent to Beverly by the oh so beautiful and sweet Pink Princess Claudie.
Beverly's heart went pitter-pat as she unpacked and removed each of the pretties. And, there were very many pretties. Then Beverly came upon a box. A pretty pink box. The box was labeled Pink Champagne Truffles. Beverly was intrigued. You see Beverly was not a candy-holic, but Pink Champagne Truffles were very tempting.
Then Beverly opened the pretty pink box and put one of those Pink Champagne Truffles in her mouth. Do you have any ideas what happened next?
Beverly thought she had died and gone to Heaven. Oh my goodness. Those Pink Champagne Truffles were so good. Good? No, good just isn't the word to describe those divine morsels. There just might not be an adjective worthy of being associated with those Pink Champagne Truffles.
Guess what happened next?
Beverly instantly realized those divine morsels were to be savored. She put them in her desk drawer with the plan of savoring one every day until they were gone. She had plans to daily place one in her mouth and let the divinity slowly melt and trickle down her throat in bliss. Surely she was entitled to these few moments of daily bliss.
But, then Beverly remembered that a real candy-holic lived in her house. And, this candy-holic was her very same mother that had instilled in her guilt. You all know what I mean. That very same guilt that mothers instill in their children. Beverly shuddered at the thought of the guilt she would feel if she did not share these divine morsels with her mother. We will refer to Beverly's mother as Candy-holic.
The next time Candy-holic came in her office, Beverly held out the box and offered one to her. And, before Beverly could blink her eye, Candy-holic stuck one in her mouth, swallowed it and grabbed another. Beverly could tell by the look in Candy-holic's eyes that she thought these were divine, too.
What was Beverly to do? She knew that Candy-holic would be going into her office and eating the divine morsels until they were all gone.
There is a lesson and moral to this story. The lesson and moral are to quickly overcome the maternal inflicted guilt, discreetly hide the box of Pink Champagne Truffles and tell Candy-holic they are all gone. Even leave the empty box on your desk as proof. And, buy Candy-holic some other kind of candy. She won't really know the difference. Also, know there really are Pink Princesses in this world.
And, Beverly lived happily ever after. Even though she did finally savor the last of her Pink Champagne Truffles, the memory of those divine morsels is a sweet forever memory.
Oh, and there is one more thing you should know and action you should take.
Stop what you are doing, and track down a box of Pink Champagne Truffles for yourself. When they are delivered, open the box and savor the divinity. Then you will understand Beverly's lies and secrets. You will no longer judge her as evil, greedy and selfish. You will understand - especially if you have a guilt-inflicting candy-holic living in your house.
I don't see anything wrong with hiding candy, especially ones like that! Those are definitely meant to be savored, and hoarded!
Thank you for hosting PS, Beverly!
Happy Pink Saturday!

Happy Pink Saturday Beverly!
Not a lot of pink in my post, but I think there is enough.
We are at the lake, packing and preparing to leave for home very early in the morning. Drew, our little "Elvis", will be 5 tomorrow. A celebration is planned and we wouldn't miss it for the world.

Posted by: Debbie | January 07, 2011 at 05:42 PM
What a wonderfully sweet story!!!! I'm so glad the Beverly shared the yummy truffles with the Candy-holic. . . .cuz even if she had of fibbed to her about the existence of those amazing candies, the deeply instilled guilt would have haunted her for ever.....no matter what she thinks. Once a mama instills that guilt...it's almost impossible to remove it! :) MAYBE you will receive another little box of those in the mail now that the Bubbly Pink Princess Claudia knows how fond you are of them!
Have a great Pink Saturday!!!! L, Dana

*giggles!* excellent strategy for thwarting candy-holics. I have one in my family and they will ruthlessly eat every last drop and then look at you innocently. I believe I do in fact need to track down a box of thsoe truffles. How delightful!

Beverly in -um- the story sounds very nice to even share to begin with. Maybe if I liked them that much, I might be tempted not to share to begin with and just bought Candyholic her own stash to begin with.

Wow, Beverly, you sold me. The makers of those delectable delicacies should hire you to advertise for them. What a nice gift that was for you. I confess to hiding some candy from some family members in the past. LOL

Good morning Beverly, I love your story and I would have loved a piece of that delicious candy. I adore truffles!!! AND you too. What a sweet gift from Princess Claudie. Smile. You might say I too am a candy-holic. Yes, I admit it. BIG Smile.
I changed the photo of Brandan and Maddi. The rehearsal dinner photo is up now. Thank you so much for linking me. I had a weird notice on my email. Did I do something wrong?
We are excited about the wedding today. We had a wonderful time at the mystery theater. Surprise! the play was a wedding. No one knew. We had three tables and laughed ourselves silly. It was very funny.
I need another cup of coffee.
Love you much, Jeanne

Beverly,
Thanks for sending that email. I had a perfect pink table and I almost forgot to come over. Have worked a lot this week...tired. I also need to include a new blog in my post next week. I haven't done this yet. Thanks for reminding us forgetful people. I am more visual and sometimes the pink steals the words right away from my eyes!! (I get too busy looking to read.bad confession...I know)
Hope you have been having a wonderful New Year!

Happy Pink Saturday Beverly, It was so very sweet of you to share your candy with your mother, I mean the candy-holic. Did you ever say where one might be abel to purchases those lovely morsels? I guess I'll have to do a search. Have a wonderful week!
Posted by: Linda | January 08, 2011 at 11:59 AM
Ahhhhhh Miss Beverly, you sure did surprise me here. Now I feel guilty, you know why? I search every where for more of those PINK CHAMPAGNE TRUFFLES before and after Xmas. The store that used to carry them have stopped. I think because they were so expensive ( just saying) that the Canadian cheapskates here wouldn't fork out the buckaroos lol.
Valentine brings the heart sharped one's but not this year : (
I would have loved nothing more than to have sent your mom, Miss Candy-holic a box. I'll keep looking, or I might just have to go to England and buy a case : )
Happy Pink Sat. dear Miss Beverly.
This was a different post for you, I liked the story, thank you.
Please don't think I'm avoiding P.S. because I'm not. I think of you every Sat. I just can't visit so many girls, and guilt starts running through my veins. I could have posted today's, it's so full of pink, but the girls would think it too long. It's a little one for Randy.
Again, thank you for your shout out.
Randy and Colt just made French banquette bread and I'm going to have a huge piece for brunch, cuz I just finished my first coffee lol
Love You

Charbonnel et Walker - sorry, guilt or no guilt, I couldn't have shared a single one! And what a lovely box too. Never had these, but it's now an ambition!
Once again I can't take part this week (flu earlier in the week, plus the computer crash - still not got all my programmes reloaded - and now a problem with the keyboard! I've got it reconnected now, but two days this week were a complete write-off, so to speak).
Happy New Year and Happy Pink Saturday, Beverly.

Dear Beverly
I loved your story and I don't think you're evil for hoarding. When it comes to truffles - be a squirrel! :-)
This is my first time linking up to Pink Saturday (I'm at the back of the class!) I've been a long time fan of your blog and the meme but have never managed to get my act together to get posted in all of the time I've been blogging! This morning, as I was finishing up, I realized that I just wrote a pink post - AND we are now able to do our own link-ups (yah!) - so, I barrelled over as fast as I could to join the fun!
Have a wonderful week and if I can put two and two together more often - you'll see me more in 2011!
Hugs
