How perfectly APT for today---this was our Sunday morning Getting-ready-for-church music when we were first married. We'd sing along with this one, and Take My Hand, all through breakfast and dressing and getting out the door, still humming or singing Lower Lights or Golden Bells in the car, all the way up the walk into the church doors. That little cassette held a lot of good music.
And Chris is DOWN THERE this minute, at our little church, "changing classes" just about now between Sunday School and Church---gone to visit his folks for a few days. Isn't it amazing the memories and feelings that music of our pasts evoke.
(And I'll be singing THIS ONE all day!)
Stay well and warm, my Dearie,
rachel

Beverly,
I couldn't resist linking this post to today's LAWN TEA---the chapter on Church Music and All-Day Singings.

One of my favorites. I loved listening to Tennessee Ernie Ford when I was young. Thanks for posting.

I've been a fan of Tennessee Ernie since the 1940's. I remember going to Alhambra, CA when I was about 12 years old where he performed each week in a program called Home Town Jamboree. I think it was Alhambra. It's been so long now I'm not sure of that but I am sure it was called Home Town Jamboree. He was a great man and a great entertainer.
Blessings,
Charlotte

I went back and looked it up online. Hometown Jamboree was in El Monte when I went there. Seems like I would remember that because after I married the first place we lived was El Monte. I think I'm getting old.
