This week I am featuring Cindy at Whimsical Musings. Cindy recently began participating in Pink Saturday, and she is one of the many special people that always share something wonderful. Cindy is an amazingly talented artist. The pink birdhouse and the tag shown below were gifted to me by her, and they are beautiful. - Cindy at Whimsical Musings
Cindy Adkins is a New Orleans-based gallery artist known for her extensive mixed media work. “I love working with texture, whether it is with vintage images, soy silk, layered paper, fibers, or embroidery. Every day presents an opportunity to incorporate new materials and that adds to the excitement of this process.”
Adkins is a published artist and holds a Master’s Degree in Humanities. She feels that her background in this field gives her a broader outlook that she brings to her own work. “Often, those aspects of classic and modern art, music, and literature are encapsulated in various pieces and it is always with a touch of whimsy.”
Following Hurricane Katrina, Adkins gained attention for her 6-month project that is a tribute to the people of the New Orleans area who have gone through the recovery process. “The survivors have risen from the ashes and I wanted to make individual pieces to honor their resilience and celebrate the human spirit. Displayed publicly, it is my gift to the community to help in the healing process.” Now, Adkins’ carefully handcrafted as well as digital art is available to people everywhere.
“Through my art, I create pieces that I want people to look at time and again, in each instance, noticing something new. That is the joy of creating as each piece contains a message. I always say that the art process is like giving birth--there is a part of me in each one.”

They are my Mother's Day gift to each of you.
I swear I can smell your roses.....all the way over here in Missouri!!! You always have the most gorgeous flowers, Beverly! Did you get a green thumb from your mama?
Cindy is truly a gifted artist....I so enjoyed ready her bio and seeing her beautiful creations.

Hi Beverly, your roses just knock my socks off. Having seen them in person, I KNOW how wonderful your rose garden looks and smells. It is divine to say the least. I bet you were inspired to host Pink Saturday with all those gorgeous blooms in pink. They inspire me!!!

Beverly, Gracious after all these Pink Saturdays I finally realized I had to go BEYOND the list of guests to get to your comments. So sorry, that is why I have never, or perhaps just once in the very beginning posted a comment to you. What can I say? So many visitors so little time and I just jumped in each week never seeing a comment section for you......ok, that said, thank you for the beautiful rose mosaic. Lovely. Perfect for this weekend of Mother's Day and the Derby and anything else one is celebrating in May. Happy PS, Derby and Mother's Day all in one.

Beverly, I am so green with envy! You have the most gorgeous roses :D The other week I also featured a variety of rose that grows in my garden. We have only a few planted but they're of different varieties. I bet they smell so sweet, too.

Hi Beverley
Changing the time to 3 pm makes a difference for me. I live in Scotland where, depending on which part of the USA it is either 4,5 or 6 hours of difference.
Cindy is a special woman and one whose artwork I am lucky enough to own as she has sent me tags in the past.
