Exciting Upcoming Event
Pink Saturday August 13, 2011
Do you remember last August when we joined forces with Kelee Katillac for Colette's Miracle Makeover? So many of you took part in this life-changing event. Kelee and and her wonderful sponsors have offered us the opportunity to once again shine a bright light with the power of our blog community.
Here is a message from Kelee:
You may have heard about the up-coming MiracleMakeover Video Reveal Party. We will be sharing the story of a little boy who is probably a lot like your son, grandson or nephew; he loves cars, trucks and trains. Charlie enjoys riding his bicycle, too. But, he is different than most eight year-olds in two ways: he has brain tumors and he leads a toy drive to help kids in chemotherapy to have happier holidays. "Charlie Santa" was founded by our hero when he was just five and in his first round of chemo. This is one of the reasons he was chosen to be an ambassador for kids with Neurofibromatosis Type1, and a recipient of a Miracle Makeover.... here is a little about Charlie and his family.... I hope you decide to write a post for the internet-wide party the week of August 12-18; posting on Facebook and leaving comments will help raise more money for another MiracleMakeover for someone in-need. Read all about it here..... or HERE and be sure to come to see the heart-warming reveal video of the new rooms for Charlie, Liam and Katie that will be here August 12-18. Read the story of his room makeover at Guideposts.org.
Mark your calenders with the date of Saturday, August 13. We will be having a "Theme Pink Saturday" in which you can post about a blessing or blessings in your life. Let's pull together once again to be a positive force in this world. Over the last three years we have had over 1,100 different Pink Saturday participants. Isn't that amazing? And, just think how amazing it would be if each one of you left a comment to raise funds for these wonderful soul-inspiring projects.
Come on. We can do it.
Here's your inspiration - Charlie!

This week I am featuring Mary at Mary's Meanderings. Mary first participated in Pink Saturday August 22, 2009. Do you know Mary yet? She is the perfect Pink Saturday participant. She enjoys and loves so many of the things so many of us do, and she has a true love for her family, her community and her faith. Mary will take you along on her treasure hunting trips, share her decorating projects and inspire you with her eye and sense of style. Give your day a big smile by visiting Mary. She will be there to greet you with an open heart. You'll be a better person for having Mary as a friend.
Take a minute to go meet Mary, and please introduce yourself.
Mary has written the follow message to you.
- Mary at Mary's Meanderings
My name is Mary and after living in "the land of enchantment" (New Mexico) for most of my life, I moved away from home for the first time almost 4 years ago to start a new adventure with my hubby. After years in the auto/farm business, God lead us to go into ministry with American Missionary Fellowship and we picked up stakes and moved to Southeast Colorado. One of the big blessings of the move was finding an awesome old house that needed lots of TLC and so that is what my little ol blog is all about. Bringing back the charm and beauty of a 100 year old home on a very limited budget. What a blast and lots of work it has been!
I started blogging about 3 years ago and found Beverly's sweet blog soon afterwards- Pink is my absolutely favorite color and I love sharing when I can the pinks in my home and getting all kinds of inspiration and ideas from all the pinks I see each Saturday. You ladies are just so creative!!
Along with sharing my home and pinks on my blog, I love gardening, crafting, sewing, cooking, and fixing/selling things in my booth and I am also a beekeeper. I must be ADD because I am hopping from one project and thing to the next so you never know what I will be posting about, hence the name "Mary's Meanderings".
I would love to meet you if you haven't been over my way - I just love meeting new friends.

Please e-mail me if you are interested in being
the featured blog at a future date.
Today for Pink Saturday I am sharing
the rocking chair gifted to me in 1953 by my grandparents.
The large doll in the pink dress is a walking doll, and she was
given to me by my aunt and uncle in 1955. The baby doll in
the red dress was given to me in 1959, and the small cloth
doll is a handcrafted Shirley Temple which my mother
purchased in the early 1980s. I have this in my
home office/studio.

Hi Beverly!
I am sitting here giggling, because it looks like I was the first to post today.
What a fun gift you have given us all... and its a game I play with myself.
Seldom do I have friday's off and so preparing to post today was fun!
Hope you are having a lovely summer.
Hugs GF!

Beverly how wonderful that you still have your childhood dolls! The few that I had got their hair whacked off or some worse demise! I was so hard on them as I was too much of a tom boy to give them much time of day!

Beverly, I still have my walking doll that I received for my birthday in the early 50's...unfortunately she is no longer blonde since my girlfriend and I traded wigs one unsupervised play Saturday...but she still walks better than I do...it's so fun to let my neices play with the old girls. Some things are timeless.

Beverly, what sweet dolls you have! I know they are extra special because they were gifted to you when you were a child... and it's amazing that you still have them! My most precious doll was one that my mom made for me when I was 5 - sadly, when communism arrived in Cuba, Christmas was abolished - so this doll was a "secret" Christmas present! Everything about her was handmade with love and care by my Mami... I'm sad I wasn't able to bring her to the USA with me when we immigrated. So lucky you, dear friend, to have such wonderful heirlooms from your childhood to treasure forever!

Your lovely dolls bring back fond memories, Beverly. If I'm not mistaken (and I may be) the doll on the left looks like a Tiny Tears doll..I had one. How nice to still have your dolls.
Thank you for hosting Pink Saturday...it's fun!
Have a glorious day,

How wonderful you still have your dolls and the rocking chair. They are more precious because they are gifts from those you love.

I know I've said this over and over, but you are so lucky to have so many wonderful childhood treasures!!! I got a "walking doll" the Christmas I was five, so that would have been in 1951 (or so). I loved it and sure wishI still had it.
I've been "celebrating" my big day hard and heavy! I know, I'm a little early, but that's how it had to be this year. I'm still tired from yesterday and last night....I think today and tomorrow will be slow, but then I hit it again on Monday. :)
Hope you have had a great Staycation.....any other great spots that you visited?
It's raining a little here this a.m., but the heat will crank up again today...and continue through next week. Ahhhhh....the joys of July and August! :)
Have a great Pink Saturday!
