Pink Saturday Featured Blog

 

This week I am featuring Susan at Blackberry Creek.

 

  Susan.  I feel like I have known her for years, but I really only know her on-line as a blogging friend.  The first time I ever visited Susan's blog, I knew she was a very special lady.  And, of course, I fell in love with The Yellow House.  Yellow is my favorite color, and I've always wanted a yellow house.

Susan invited me in to visit, and she and her Vann immediately seemed like next door neighbors.  They were good people - the kind of people who live their lives well and are always there loving their family, their friends and God.  Their love story is one to warm your heart.

Susan and Vann were sadly faced with an illness that took Vann to Heaven.  They shared their love for each other and their love for God.  I cried many tears as I prayed through their journey.  They were an absolute testament to their beliefs.

Susan is always amazing.  Her talents leave me speechless.

Hi there. I'm Susan Ramey Cleveland. My blog, Blackberry Creek Home Arts, came into existence exactly five years ago yesterday, November 30, 2006. I began it as a way to record my quilting projects, but it quickly took over as a record of all the little things that make up my life.

Blogging (as well as the wonderful friends all over the world that I have met through blogging) is now an important part of my life. I update Blackberry Creek almost every day. There's always something to show and tell: my quilting and other projects, my family, my dogs, my home.

 

I hope you'll take a minute to visit me, Sophie, and Skipper at home at The Yellow House on Blackberry Creek. We'd love to "see" you.

We like  to celebrate Halloween too.

In fact, Autumn is our favorite time of year.

Sophie Belle Patterpaw is my 10-year-old schnoodle.

Skipper Lou Blue, shown here with his favorite toy "Blue Toy," came to live with us last year. We think he's a smooth fox terrier, or maybe a rat terrier. Friends of mine picked him up hiking down the main road near The Yellow House.

Making quilts is what I like to do best (followed closely by reading good books). This is the quilt I'm currently hand piecing. I call it "Blackberry Creek." It's made from patterns from a Piecemaker's calendar.

I made this banner to hang in my church's narthex.

Hi Beverly, I said to myself, "Jeanne take a nap and wake up at 3:00." And, I did exactly. HA!

Your mantel looks especially pretty this year. Did you do anything different? I love the ribbon effect. Caralie came over this morning and helped me finish the traditional tree. It looks so pretty. The guestroom is looking very festive and I heard from Andrea today. She is coming to visit next Thursday for four days. Yippee.

How are you coming with the decorations. I hope that cold is releasing it's grip on you SOON. Your hubs too.

Hi Beverly, Thank you for continuing to send me the email to remind me. I have been really busy since we came back from vacation in early Nov. I was walking past my "snow people" and smiled and grabbed the camera. They have pink on and I can use them for a post on Pink Saturday! Love your header. I could live there, hehe. I like snow and the chances of snow on the Gulf Coast of Fl are not real high at the moment, hehe, but it has been cooler than normal so we have been decorating. Happy Pink Saturday!!!

Whew.......I just rolled in from my sale. I am sooooooooo tired and am sooooooooo glad it's all over. Well, my car is still full of display stuff and a very small amount of inventory and I will be officially over when I get all of that s stuff put away!!! Yay! It was a nice weekend.....but, again, glad it's behind me.

Well, I love your mantel decor!! Will you come to Missouri and decorate my mantel? I don't know if mine will get gussied up or not this year....too much action goin' on around here!! :)
