The soothsayer's warning to Julius Caesar

certainly changed the connotation

of this phrase forever.

 

The term ides originally was used to designate

the fifteenth of March, May, July and

October.  Ides designated the thirteenth day

of the other months of the year.  It implied

the midpoint of a month.

 

The soothsayer warned Julius.

  Clearly he should have heeded the warning.

I have no friends named Brutus.

My pink contribution for today is this gorgeous   paperweight.   You all enjoyed my paperweight last week, so I thought I would share this one.  It was a gift from my mother almost twenty-five years ago.  I keep it on a credenza in my office at work, and it looks so pretty with the sunlight shining on it.  I shared this several years ago, but I know a lot of you have not seen it.
