This is the third and last Pink Saturday theme week.  Our theme this week is to share one of your holiday or personal traditions.  Also, remember that we're giving pink flexibility this month since the holidays come in all different colors.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is Shrimp Scampi.  Every year for Christmas Eve dinner we have some type of seafood dish.  This year we are having Shrimp Scampi, but shhh!  Don't tell, because I haven't told my family what we're having yet.  I don't use a recipe, but I use lots of butter, fresh chopped parsley, lemon, garlic, garlic and more garlic, and I serve it over angel hair pasta.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is my favorite Christmas decoration.  This is my manger that I have had for fifty-two years.  When I had polio, I had to spend most of the time in the bed.  One of our neighbors built this manger for me so I could have it to look at.  My mother got most of the pieces at a small store that was nearby.  I guess I don't have to tell you what a treasure this is for me.

Pink Saturday - December 5, 2009, A Pink Giveaway and Christmas Around Our Home - Day Six

Today is a big day for Pink Saturday.  We have all kind of special things going on today.

Second, this is the first Pink Saturday theme week.  Our theme this week is to share a favorite childhood holiday memory.  We are all different individuals, and we are all sharing our own Pink Saturday post.  Please respect each participant's post and whatever they choose to share.  Also, remember that we're giving pink flexiblity this month since the holidays come in all different colors.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is a Christmas memory from my childhood.  I had polio when I was seven years old, and had to wear a brace for many years.  I removed the brace each night when I went to bed, and then put it on before getting up each morning.  I always had to take the time to put my brace on before I could go see what Santa left for me.  The Christmas morning when I was nine years old, my father told me it was time to get my brace on so I could come see the goodies.  He always had to be ready because he took movie pictures, and he had those blinding lights that he had to have set.  Well, when he called me, I was out of my bedroom and to the living room as quick as a flash.  He told me I had to go back and put on my brace.  But, I had foxed my parents because I slept in my brace.  There was no way I was going to waste precious minutes that year.  My father's mouth was hanging open because he could not believe that I had slept in the brace.  He talked about it the rest of his life.  I thought I was a real smart girl.  And, if you look closely at this picture you will see that Santa did in fact leave my greatly anticipated Ken doll.  Barbie was all set, and so was I.  My grandmother made me the bathrobe.  It was black and white checked, and I thought it was so beautiful.

Third, be sure to notice the three angels on top of the television directly behind me.  My mother purchased those angels at the dime store, and we still bring them out every year for Christmas.  They are a special treasure.  I'm sharing these angels today in three ways - as part of my childhood memory, as my pink feature for Pink Saturday and as my picture for Day Six of Christmas Around Our Home.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is a wonderful gift I received from my friend Nihal at CrossRoads.  This is a traditional Turkish Hammam set.  Nihal sent it wrapped in pretty paper and accompanied by a lovely card containing very kind words.  The towel is so soft, and the soap smells heavenly.  Hammam translates to spreader of warmth, and this set makes me feel luxurious and relaxed.  I am feeling quite pampered.  Thank you, Nihal.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday to tell you about the giveaway I am currently conducting.

Yes, you read it right.  I am having a giveaway.  What is the occasion you ask?

Well, there is no special reason other than that I thought of you.  My mother purchased these two dolls at an art show in Cocoa Beach, Florida in 1981.  They are very well made, and each is nineteen inches in length.  They are signed Mahleh and dated 1981.  They are so soft, and I think they are so sweet and pretty.  They have never been played with, and they have lived in a smoke-free home.  But, remember that they are not new.  They are twenty-eight years old.

My mother is slowly doing away with her doll collection, and like I said, when I saw this lovely couple I thought of you.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is another one of my dolls.  I'm not certain which Christmas I received her, but I think it might have been 1962.

This week we have one hundred fifty-five (155) participants in Pink Saturday.  There are five new participants, and you will find them at the bottom of the list.  Let's all take time to welcome them to Pink Saturday.  All participants are listed in the order in which they began participating.

Please take the time to visit other participants, and leave a comment to let them know you stopped by to enjoy their pink.  Pink Saturday is about having fun, and giving us a chance to meet others in the blogging community.  I promise you it is worth the effort because you will not only see lots of pink, you will meet incredibly nice and talented people.  Please refer to my post dated January 8 for more information about Pink Saturday.

Remember that my reminder e-mail stated I needed your plan for participating today no later than 8 a.m. EST Friday.  If you don't see your name and link here it is because I did not receive your plan for participating by that time.
