I think not! Our very own sweet Pat at Mille Fiori Favoriti has tagged me to name five songs that I am embarrassed to say I enjoy. Those of you that know me well, know not much embarrasses me. I've included a You Tube link for each song. I sure hope these make you smile. Alrighty, here we go.
Purple People Eater - This was released in 1958, and features Sheb Wooley. I was six years old, and I would sing this over and over. This is one of the first songs I remember liking that wasn't linked to hearing my parents singing it. I'm listening to it and smiling right now. I must have driven my parents nuts.
They're Coming to Take Me Away Ha Ha - This was released in 1966 by Napoleon XIV. We were moving to another location when this was popular, and I thought it would be funny to write these words on the top of one of the boxes the movers had to load on the truck. I still remember that the man who picked up this box to carry to the truck laughed so hard he almost dropped it.
The Chanukah Song by Adam Sandler. This was released in 1994. This song always makes me laugh aloud. I lived in South Florida most of my life, and most of the school systems observe Jewish holidays. When we moved here our son was just beginning high school, and Jewish holidays are not observed by the school system here. Our son was in shock that he was not going to be having these holidays out of school.
Don't Push Send by Carrie Newcomer. This song is about work and e-mail. It has quite a catchy tune, and the lyrics are just wonderful. I think it finds familiarity and amusement for all of those in the work force.
A Boy Named Sue by Johnny Cash. This song was written by Shel Silverstein, and we all know of his talent. Johnny Cash recorded the song in a live performance at San Quentin Prison in 1969.
Now here are the tag rules:
1. Post the link to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others that you like and tell why.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post.
This was a fun tag. At first I thought it was going to be difficult for me, but I could have gone on and on. I tag the following bloggers that I know will have fun, too:
- Dot at Picket's Place because she makes everything fun.
- Susan at Blackberry Creek because I love her sense of humor.
- Jeanne at Backyard Neighbor because she loves tags. ;-)
- Penny at Lavender Hill Studio because she always picks great music.
- BJ at Sweet Nothings because I am a forever devotee.
- Shelia at Note Songs because her blog name just calls for music.
- Karen at A Scrapbook of Inspiration because she always pairs lovely lyrics with her art.
Be sure to come back tomorrow for What's My Question Wednesday.
