It seems so many of us enjoy Pink Saturday. But, occasionally I get suggestions - mostly about people having their posts up and leaving comments.
Pink Saturday is about all things good that are pink. And, there is a lot of pink in our worlds. I don't have any rules, just that you post something in good taste - and that you post something pink. Pink is a color that has come to represent many important things - like our common interest in breast cancer research. (In fact, one of our participants is being treated for breast cancer right now.)
Pink doesn't have to be your favorite color - my favorite color is yellow. I love seeing everyone's interpretations of pink. It might be one of your pink and sweet children, it might be an object that you treasure, it might be something wonderful in nature. It might be something you created to sell or it might be something you saw while traveling, shopping, surfing the net, etc. There are no pink police.
Some of you have asked about the order of the names on the list in my post. The names are in the order that the person began to participate in Pink Saturday. The new names are added to the bottom of the list. I keep the names in a database, and I think this is the most fair order.
Another question I get frequently is why I don't use Mister Linky. While I do think Mister Linky is wonderful, I have observed that it is frequently down. And, I see people adding links that have nothing to do with the subject. Like I mentioned, I have this information in a database, and it is really not very hard to maintain. I send out the group e-mail each Wednesday evening, and ask you to respond with your plan for participation. Then I remove names of those not planning to participate, and paste it in my blog post. That is why it is so helpful for you to not only respond to the e-mail, but to respond by 8 a.m. EST on Friday. Please reply even if you aren't going to participate that week.
Now let's discuss visiting other participants' posts and leaving a comment. And, let's be realistic. Pink Saturday has become huge, and I think it is wonderful. But, it is almost impossible to visit everyone - especially if you are trying to do it in one day. We all like to visit, and we all like to have visitors. I have met so many wonderful people through Pink Saturday. And, we all like our visitors to take the time to leave a comment and say hello. I personally try to visit each participant, but since the group is so large, I can't do it all in one day. I print out the list, and each time I sit down at my computer I visit a few. Some people have actually decided not to participate because they feel bad that they can't visit everyone. I think that is sad. Please don't turn something that is supposed to be fun into a job. Visit - yes, but don't feel pressured. This is not a job. Also, we need to acknowledge that we're all different. Some people visit and leave comments, and some people don't. There are people that participate that don't leave me a comment, and I am okay with that.
Also, if you have said you are going to participate, please try to put up your post on your blog. But, remember - life happens. The reason someone doesn't have up their post might be because something has come up in their life. When I find someone that hasn't posted, I usually just leave a comment so they will know I stopped in to say hello.
Now, is there anything you want to bring to my attention? If so, please leave a comment. We're all friends, and we can discuss each other's views.
Just remember - Pink Saturday is about making friends. Don't sweat the small stuff.
