I'm Going To Try To Do Better

It has been suggested to me on many occasions that I need to give my answer to the question I ask on Wednesday.  And, I promised that I would begin to give my answer in my Thursday post.

Well ... I have been reminded that I rarely give my answer.  I have no excuse for myself, so I won't bother to give one.

I promise that I will try to do better, and I'll start with my answer to the question from yesterday.

Like many of you, as much as it amuses (and scares) me, I often quote my parents and grandparents.  But, one of the quotes I use most often is from The Bible.

To whom much is given, much is expected.

Luke 12:48

Not only do I believe this with all of my heart, I quote it to remind myself and others how important it is to recognize all of our many blessings.

It is so easy to let the day-to-day trials overwhelm us, but we never have to look far to see many with trials that diminish what we are experiencing.

There are many ways we can all give of ourselves.  So many people only think of giving in terms of monetary, but while that is important, I believe it is the gifts we give of our hearts that matter most.

Make this world a better place by using the gifts God has given.

Who do you find yourself quoting the most

Open For Suggestions

I know this sounds a little "different", but I want a pillow to sit in an odd chair in our breakfast room.  And, I've been looking for several years, but have never seen anything that came even close to what I have in mind.

I want a pillow that has a rooster, but I don't want a country look.  I want something elegant - you know with lovely fringe.  It needs to have some colors that are in the pink, gold, sage green and navy ranges.

So far this seems like the impossible dream, but I'm throwing it out "there".  Have any of you seen anything that might be something like this - or do you know anyone that might make something like it?

Blue Moons

A blue moon is a full moon that is not timed to the regular monthly pattern. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly, but in addition to those twelve full lunar cycles each calendar year contains an excess of roughly eleven days. The extra days accumulate, so that every two or three years (on average about every 2.7154 years) there is an extra full moon. The extra moon is called a "blue moon."

The term "blue moon" is commonly used describe the rarity of an event, as in the saying "once in a blue moon."

The next time there are two full moons in one month is December 2 and 31, 2009.

Pink Saturday - May 16, 2009

Happy Pink Saturday!

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is this adorable pink sign.  Our very own BJ at Sweet Nothings gifted me with this sign.  She was so sweet to see this and think of me.  Thank you, BJ.  It is definitely perfect and pink.

Charlotte Russe

Doesn't this Charlotte Russe look delicious?  Well, let me assure you that it was.  It just melted in your mouth.  And, the best part was that I didn't have to lift a finger.

This was our dessert for Mother's Day, and it was prepared by a divine German bakery here in town.

And, don't be intimidated by it by thinking your's would be a trainwreck.  Charlotte Russe really isn't difficult to prepare.  Paula Deen has a very easy to follow recipe here.

An Enduring Gift

Do you love hosta as much as I do?  It is one of my favorites - always looking so fresh, green and healthy.

This hosta was all started from a few little pieces my aunt dug from her yard.  We planted it nineteen years ago.  My aunt has been dead over nine years now, but this hosta lives to give me one of her smiles every time I see it.  I think it must make her smile, too.

The best plants are those given, received and grown with love.  She loved us very much, and we loved her, too.
