Happy Pink Saturday!
Today is a big day for Pink Saturday. We have all kind of special things going on today.
First of all, we are having a very special giveaway made possible by our very own Vanessa at Vanilla Lavender. Vanessa is a long time participant of Pink Saturday, in fact she first participated June 13, 2008. She started in the third week I opened participation. Vanessa contacted me a few weeks ago, and she said she would like to do something special for Pink Saturday during the holiday season. Now, if you haven't visited Vanessa's shop Pin It by Vanessa Greenway, you need to rush right over for a wonderful treat. Vanessa creates the most beautiful pins and brooches, and she is currently running a special. Be sure to visit Vanessa's blog today to enjoy her childhood memory and to thank you for this lovely giveaway.
Okay, I know you are wondering about the giveaway, and here it is. Vanessa created this gorgeous brooch which one of you will win. All you need to do is leave a comment on this post, and we will use the Random Number Integer to pick a winner. The winning name will be announced next Pink Saturday, December 12. You have until midnight EST Thursday to leave your comment.
A special thank you to Vanessa for giving everyone
the opportunity to win this gorgeous brooch.
This week we have one hundred fifty-three (153) participants in Pink Saturday. There is one new
participant, and you will find her at the bottom of the
list. Let's all take time to welcome her to Pink Saturday. All participants are listed in the order in which they began participating.
Please take the time to visit other participants, and leave a comment to let them know you stopped
by to enjoy their pink. Pink Saturday
is about having fun, and giving us a chance to meet others in the
blogging community. I promise you it
is worth the effort because you will not only see lots of pink,
you
will meet incredibly nice and talented people. Please refer to my post dated January 8 for more information about Pink Saturday.
Remember
that my reminder e-mail stated I needed your plan for participating
today no later than 8 a.m. EST Friday. If you don't see your name and link here it is because
I
did not receive your plan for participating by that time.
I
want to thank those of you that take the time to leave me a comment. I
love reading what you all have to say.
Reminder
- We have a weekly challenge for you to visit the blog of at least one
participant that you have never visited before. Then next Saturday
include that blog and a link in your post. Quite a few of you have
been done this challenge, and
have met some of the great Pink Saturday participants. Thank you for
sharing with us.

Second, this is the first Pink Saturday theme week. Our theme this week is to share a favorite childhood holiday memory. We are all different individuals, and we are all sharing our own Pink Saturday post. Please respect each participant's post and whatever they choose to share. Also, remember that we're giving pink flexiblity this month since the holidays come in all different colors.
My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is a Christmas memory from my childhood. I had polio when I was seven years old, and had to wear a brace for many years. I removed the brace each night when I went to bed, and then put it on before getting up each morning. I always had to take the time to put my brace on before I could go see what Santa left for me. The Christmas morning when I was nine years old, my father told me it was time to get my brace on so I could come see the goodies. He always had to be ready because he took movie pictures, and he had those blinding lights that he had to have set. Well, when he called me, I was out of my bedroom and to the living room as quick as a flash. He told me I had to go back and put on my brace. But, I had foxed my parents because I slept in my brace. There was no way I was going to waste precious minutes that year. My father's mouth was hanging open because he could not believe that I had slept in the brace. He talked about it the rest of his life. I thought I was a real smart girl. And, if you look closely at this picture you will see that Santa did in fact leave my greatly anticipated Ken doll. Barbie was all set, and so was I. My grandmother made me the bathrobe. It was black and white checked, and I thought it was so beautiful.
Third, be sure to notice the three angels on top of the television directly behind me. My mother purchased those angels at the dime store, and we still bring them out every year for Christmas. They are a special treasure. I'm sharing these angels today in three ways - as part of my childhood memory, as my pink feature for Pink Saturday and as my picture for Day Six of Christmas Around Our Home.
Here are our Pink Saturday participants this week:
I hope everyone has fun with
