Baylus Benjamin McKinney was one of the greatest hymnist of the twentieth century.  He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and later returned to the seminary as a member of the music faculty.

In 1935, McKinney was named music editor for the Baptist Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.  When he traveled to the Alabama Sunday School Convention, he saw his good friend, R. S. Jones, who had been a missionary in Brazil.  Jones told him the doctors were forbidding him to return to Brazil due to his health.  When McKinney asked his friend what he would do, Jones replied, "I don't know, but wherever He leads I'll go."  Those words inspired this hymn.

A Tune For Tuesday

Fabulous Fifi Flowers

Today I am sharing the gift I gave my husband for Christmas.  I commissioned the fabulous Fifi Flowers to paint this for my husband.  The painting is of a rose arbor at our house.  The arbor was covered with a magnificent climbing rose that was passed down from my husband's great-grandmother.

Now, be sure to go visit our very own fabulous Fifi, and let her paint a memory for you.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday I am going to reshare a post I did April 19, 2008.  This post featured the figurine that is in the Pink Saturday button.  Pink Saturday is something I was doing only on my blog at that time, and this is one of the first Pink Saturday posts I did.  I thought some of you might enjoy seeing this.

Last Saturday I said I was going to begin to share some of my favorite pink things around my home.  I showed you the lovely pink hinged box that my husband and I purchased many years ago, and today I am showing you another Beatrice.

I've already introduced you to sweet Beatrice that greets you when you visit our home.  Remember Beatrice was the name of one of the most important women in my life.

This lovely creature is the other Beatrice in my home.  I have a small collection of Irish Dresden figures which I've had for at least twenty years.  My parents used to give me one on special occasions.  When we found one that bore the name Beatrice, we just knew she should be mine.

This Beatrice is quite petite just like our real Beatrice.  While this Beatrice is only about four inches, our Beatrice was less that five feet tall.

Beatrice was a gentle spirit with a huge and generous heart.  She freely and unconditionally gave her love to all, and we are all better for having had her in our lives.  It should be our goal to reflect her grace in the way we live.
