I'm at the hospital. I have not been feeling well for almost a month. After repeated visits to the doctor, and the beginning of very painful spells, I came to the ER last Saturday. I spent ten hours there, and left with the plan that rather than having immediate surgery, I would meet with the surgeon Tuesday.
I did meet with the surgeon Tuesday with a plan for repeated labs Wednesday to determine how soon I should have the surgery. Unfortunately, I had two quite severe attacks after leaving her office Tuesday morning. I went back to the ER Tuesday evening, and was admitted to the hospital Wednesday morning directly from ER. My liver enzymes and billirubin levels continued to increase.
It seems I have a gallstone in my common bile duct, and the best method of removing it is an ERCP. This procedure is done endoscopically using a dye for contrast. Here lies a second problem. I am severely allergic to the dye, and my reaction is anaphylactic shock. I am being given Prednisone in hopes to help with the procedure. The procedure was scheduled for nine this morning, then bumped to two this afternoon, and now bumped again to five this afternoon.
The plan is to see where I stand after the stone is removed from the duct.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
