Red, White and Blue Monday

Today we honor our United States men and women who died while in military service.  Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States, and it is now observed on the last Monday of May.  This day was first known as Decoration Day, and it was first enacted to honor soldiers of the American Civil War.   The name of "Memorial Day" was first used in 1882.  It did not become more common until after World War II,  and was not declared the official name by Federal law until 1967.

Many brave men an women have given their lives in service to our country.  I honor their courage and their memories, and I give thanks to their families for their sacrifice.

Happy Pink Saturday

Wow!!! Can you believe that it has been two years since we started sharing Pink Saturday?  My first Pink Post was April 12, 2008, and the first day others started posting with me was May 31, 2008.  The first two participants were Donna at Donna's - In The Attic and Jeanne at Backyard Neighbor.  Here is a link to that post.  The second week there were an additional twelve new participants, and it has continued to grow and grow.  Here is a link to the second week post.  Just look where we are now.  At some time close to 800 different people that have participated in Pink Saturday.

Dinner On The Deck

Here are a few pictures of our new deck.  The deck is directly off of our sunroom.  I should have walked around in order to take more pictures from a different perspective, but my family was ready to eat.  I can't let them starve now, can I?  We had a very casual meal of hot dogs and chips - and they were delicious.
