My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is a very, very short story.
Once upon a time there was a lady who really liked the color pink, even though her very favorite color was yellow. This lady's name was Beverly, and Beverly was lucky enough to host the most spectacular weekly event known as Pink Saturday.
There was another lady. A truly beautiful, kind, loving and very fun lady. This lady was named Claudie, and she lived at Bubblin' Over. We will refer to this lady as Pink Princess Claudie because she was a real lover of pink and she was like a very kind princess.
One day a box came in the mail for Beverly, and it was filled overflowing with beautiful things. This gift was sent to Beverly by the oh so beautiful and sweet Pink Princess Claudie.
Beverly's heart went pitter-pat as she unpacked and removed each of the pretties. And, there were very many pretties. Then Beverly came upon a box. A pretty pink box. The box was labeled Pink Champagne Truffles. Beverly was intrigued. You see Beverly was not a candy-holic, but Pink Champagne Truffles were very tempting.
Then Beverly opened the pretty pink box and put one of those Pink Champagne Truffles in her mouth. Do you have any ideas what happened next?
Beverly thought she had died and gone to Heaven. Oh my goodness. Those Pink Champagne Truffles were so good. Good? No, good just isn't the word to describe those divine morsels. There just might not be an adjective worthy of being associated with those Pink Champagne Truffles.
Guess what happened next?
Beverly instantly realized those divine morsels were to be savored. She put them in her desk drawer with the plan of savoring one every day until they were gone. She had plans to daily place one in her mouth and let the divinity slowly melt and trickle down her throat in bliss. Surely she was entitled to these few moments of daily bliss.
But, then Beverly remembered that a real candy-holic lived in her house. And, this candy-holic was her very same mother that had instilled in her guilt. You all know what I mean. That very same guilt that mothers instill in their children. Beverly shuddered at the thought of the guilt she would feel if she did not share these divine morsels with her mother. We will refer to Beverly's mother as Candy-holic.
The next time Candy-holic came in her office, Beverly held out the box and offered one to her. And, before Beverly could blink her eye, Candy-holic stuck one in her mouth, swallowed it and grabbed another. Beverly could tell by the look in Candy-holic's eyes that she thought these were divine, too.
What was Beverly to do? She knew that Candy-holic would be going into her office and eating the divine morsels until they were all gone.
There is a lesson and moral to this story. The lesson and moral are to quickly overcome the maternal inflicted guilt, discreetly hide the box of Pink Champagne Truffles and tell Candy-holic they are all gone. Even leave the empty box on your desk as proof. And, buy Candy-holic some other kind of candy. She won't really know the difference. Also, know there really are Pink Princesses in this world.
And, Beverly lived happily ever after. Even though she did finally savor the last of her Pink Champagne Truffles, the memory of those divine morsels is a sweet forever memory.
Oh, and there is one more thing you should know and action you should take.
Stop what you are doing, and track down a box of Pink Champagne Truffles for yourself. When they are delivered, open the box and savor the divinity. Then you will understand Beverly's lies and secrets. You will no longer judge her as evil, greedy and selfish. You will understand - especially if you have a guilt-inflicting candy-holic living in your house.
