Our Window Box

Today I am joining Susan at Between Naps On The Porch

Metamorphosis Monday.

Thank you, dear Susan.

I don't have any "before" photos, so I need you to imagine this window without the window box. The window looks out from our half-bath onto our deck.

I've wanted a window box for the longest time, but I just never seemed to get around to purchasing one. Well, I finally did it. I purchased one from Gardener's Supply Company. We have purchased from them many times, and we are always pleased.

We decided on the 39" self watering box in red, and we are love it. Here is a link in case you are interested.

We planted yellow and red lantana, dahlias, sweet potato vine and English ivy. We are so thrilled with how it is doing, and we give the credit to the self watering feature. This feature is a bit more expensive, but wow is it worth it. We plan to only purchase pots with this feature going forward.

Kathryn at The Writer's Reverie

Greetings from The Writer’s Reverie! My name is Kathryn Ross – or, Miss Kathy, if you like. I’m tickled pink to be Beverly’s featured blog on Pink Saturday this week!

I’m a writer, speaker, dramatist – an Enrichment Artist! I write, teach, and/or perform original programs for children of all ages celebrating virtue and beauty in history, literature, and the arts. I live, largely, in another century, collecting old things, vintage clothes, hats, and accessories (which I proudly wear), period costumes, old books, tea items, vintage dolls and toys, and the accoutrements of daily life in bygone days. Everything has a story to tell and a life lesson to teach. I use my collections to illustrate facets of my faith in Christ – which is at the foundation of all. My various collections of props, costumes, antiques, and whatnots become the stuff of still life displays throughout my home which I change seasonally. It’s like – my home is my canvas and to decorate is to paint a landscape.

Storytelling “His Story” is my very favorite thing to do through the many theatricals I produce. I call my production company Pageant Wagon Productions after the medieval Pageant Wagons that roamed throughout Europe, bringing the gospel, literacy, and learning back to the masses after the blight of the dark ages. I love creating family friendly live theatre events, and old fashioned melodrama is my favorite genre within which to work. Lighting the lamp of a love of learning and literature in a child’s heart brings me great satisfaction. I am constantly learning and perfecting what I do that I might be found a source of inspiration in another’s life.

I am married to a storyteller in his own right and we enjoy performing together on occasion. My two children are grown and this past year I became a Nana for the first time. I actually started blogging in 2008 but never kept with it because my work demands kept me too busy. Currently, I’ve scaled back some of my projects to focus on writing and teaching elementary drama on two charter school campuses, allowing me to finally have the time to devote to creating and maintaining a blog.

I hope you’ll visit me at The Writer’s Reverie where I share on many topics – reflections on those things that inspire and inform me as an artist. In the few weeks I’ve been blogging as The Writer’s Reverie, I have met so many wonderful people in blog-world adding more inspiration to my life. Beverly has featured in the past some very nice Pink Saturday participates. I am not sure I am worthy, but I am being honored today. Thank you Beverly for giving me this opportunity to be "the star" for a day.

I am not as creative, talented or a writer like most of you. What you see and read, is just plain old LV at MeMe's Corner. The blog has opened so many avenues of communication that I never knew existed. I enjoy it very much and look forward to seeing what others have to share. I will never meet you personally, but still feel I have known some of you forever. I truly appreciate your visits and comments.

Those of you that have read my profile, there is not much else to share. I have one son that I am very proud of. He has come a long way from sacking groceries to this point in his life. I have two sisters. I was married to my late husband 46 years. This has been my home since 1964.

I also enjoy playing bingo with some more seniors. We enjoy each others company and helps keep our minds active. It is a lot better than being in a "home" somewhere alone. I have been blessed so far with good health. I still do all my yard work, including the mowing.
