My husband and I are taking a "staycation" this week, and Monday morning we decided to drive over to Time Out in Chapel Hill to try one of the famous and certainly cholesteral boosting breakfasts.
We had read about Time Out and seen reviews on television. It is in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill on Franklin Street. Please note that being Duke fans we made the decision to visit in the summer while so many of "those Tarheels" are on summer break. Time Out is open 24/7 365 days a year. It is a well-loved Chapel Hill tradition.
I opted for the famous chicken, cheese and egg biscuit, and I admit it was delicious. But, it was enough to split three ways, and I finished about one-third of mine. I felt stuffed, and the only other thing I ate that day was some toast for dinner.
My sweet husband had the country fried steak, grits, scrambled eggs and a biscuit. He polished off most of his, and he said it was delicious.
This was a fun experience, and we had it on our list of places to try. I do believe it was a one time experience though. We spoke with the owner, and he informed us they had recently opened another Time Out on Hillsborough Street across from NC State University in Raleigh, and they are looking for a location near Duke University in Durham.
