Happy Pink Saturday!

I thought I would share with you a few of the responses I received about why everyone thinks the commenting is down.

• Most of you think it is because it is summer, and so many people are busy having fun.

• The number one comment I received is that so many people have blogs that will not allow those commenting to leave their name/url.  Unless you have a blogger profile, the blog owner will not be able to find their way back to you.  Many participants requested that blogger users consider setting their blogs to allow that option.

• Another thing that people say consumes time is having to use the verification codes required when leaving comments on many blogs.  I am going to turn that feature off on my blog, and see how things go.

• One thing that upsets people is listed participants never putting up a "pink" post.  Several people suggested that I remove the name from the list when I find out they didn't post.  I understand the frustration of repeatedly visiting and finding no post, but I can't commit the time that would be required for me to monitor participants.

• Some of you say you try to visit everyone's post some time during the week, many say they only visit the ones that visit them and their favorites, and some say they hardly visit at all but they enjoy posting and reading.

So there you go - we are all different.  One piece of advice I can give to new bloggers and/or new participants is that it takes an effort to build blogging relationships.  You have to get out and visit to build a following.

And, most importantly, Pink Saturday is about having fun.  This is a guilt-free event.  Visit and leave comments in a way that is both considerate and works for your situation.  I know I used to visit every participant every week, but I just can't do it anymore.  Have fun!

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is sweet, pink Becky and her teddy bear.  Becky is another piece of my small collection of Dresden figurines.  Becky is 4 1/2 inches tall, and she lives in an antique oak side-by-side in our master bedroom.  She has other Dresden figures that keep a watchful eye on her.  I wonder if one of them is her mother?  My sweet mother gave Becky to me many years ago.

• Another thing that people say consumes time is having to use the verification codes required when leaving comments on many blogs.  I am going to turn that feature off on my blog, and see how things go.

• One thing that upsets people is listed participants never putting up a "pink" post.  Several people suggested that I remove the name from the list when I find out they didn't post.  I understand the frustration of repeatedly visiting and finding no post, but I can't commit the time that would be required for me to monitor participants.

• Some of you say you try to visit everyone's post some time during the week, many say they only visit the ones that visit them and their favorites, and some say they hardly visit at all but they enjoy posting and reading.

So there you go - we are all different.  One piece of advice I can give to new bloggers and/or new participants is that it takes an effort to build blogging relationships.  You have to get out and visit to build a following.

And, most importantly, Pink Saturday is about having fun.  This is a guilt-free event.  Visit and leave comments in a way that is both considerate and works for your situation.  I know I used to visit every participant every week, but I just can't do it anymore.  Have fun!

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is sweet, pink Becky and her teddy bear.  Becky is another piece of my small collection of Dresden figurines.  Becky is 4 1/2 inches tall, and she lives in an antique oak side-by-side in our master bedroom.  She has other Dresden figures that keep a watchful eye on her.  I wonder if one of them is her mother?  My sweet mother gave Becky to me many years ago.

I love What's My Question Wednesday.  It is so interesting to read each of your perspectives on my question of the week.  I hope you will begin to come by and take the time to answer my question.  You will enjoy reading the other responses.

I thought I would share with you a few of the responses I received about why everyone thinks the commenting is down.

• Most of you think it is because it is summer, and so many people are busy having fun.

• The number one comment I received is that so many people have blogs that will not allow those commenting to leave their name/url.  Unless you have a blogger profile, the blog owner will not be able to find their way back to you.  Many participants requested that blogger users consider setting their blogs to allow that option.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is another piece of my Irish Dresden.  This is Clementine, and she is part of the Victorian Girls Collection.  Isn't she a pretty little thing?  And, she is quite petite - only four inches tall.

Happy Pink Saturday!

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is another piece of my Irish Dresden.  This is Clementine, and she is part of the Victorian Girls Collection.  Isn't she a pretty little thing?  And, she is quite petite - only four inches tall.

What's My Question Wednesday

Today I am hanging out with Sally and Blue Monday.

This is Deirdre.  Isn't she lovely with her little parasol, and can you see the dainty, pretty flowers along the edge of her dress?  She is quite the petite young lady - only 3 1/2 inches tall.  Deirdre is another piece of my small collection of Dresden figurines.  And, she is the only blue piece.

First of all I would like to ask all of you to pray for our friend Deena at Can I be Pretty In Pink.  She desperately needs all of our constant prayers.  I am praying for her strength, comfort and peace of heart.  And, please remember to continue your prayers for our very own Karin at Creative Chaos as she progresses through her treatments.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is this Dresden swan from my mother's collection.  My mother keeps this on a wall unit in her bedroom with a small collection of swans.  I have to say that I think this is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen.  My mother purchased it over twenty years ago at an antique show.  The swan is six inches at the longest point.

 

This week we have one hundred thirty-four (134) participants in Pink Saturday.  Wow!!!  That is another record-breaking number of participants.  There are thirteen new participants this week, and you will find them at the bottom of the list.  Let's all take time to welcome them to Pink Saturday.  It seems that so many of us have fun with the color pink.  I hope you are all enjoying this as much as I am.

Pink Saturday girls are fun.

First of all I would like to ask all of you to pray for our friend Deena at Can I be Pretty In Pink.  She desperately needs all of our constant prayers.  I am praying for her strength, comfort and peace of heart.  And, please remember to continue your prayers for our very own Karin at Creative Chaos as she progresses through her treatments.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is this Dresden swan from my mother's collection.  My mother keeps this on a wall unit in her bedroom with a small collection of swans.  I have to say that I think this is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen.  My mother purchased it over twenty years ago at an antique show.  The swan is six inches at the longest point.

 

This week we have one hundred thirty-four (134) participants in Pink Saturday.  Wow!!!  That is another record-breaking number of participants.  There are thirteen new participants this week, and you will find them at the bottom of the list.  Let's all take time to welcome them to Pink Saturday.  It seems that so many of us have fun with the color pink.  I hope you are all enjoying this as much as I am.

A reminder that today is the last day to bid on this beautiful doll featured by Joyce of Brookside Cottage.  She requested that I help spread the word that she is hosting a silent auction to benefit the Nielson family.  The auction is for an absolutely exquisite "Angel of Hope" doll.  Please take the time to visit the auction site.  I know everyone has this wonderful family in their prayers.

For some reason there doesn't seem to be much bidding activity on this sweet doll, and I can't understand why.  It seems this would make a wonderful holiday gift for any sweet young lady, and it would benefit the Nielson family.

My pink contribution for this Pink Saturday is a piece from my small collection of Irish Dresden figurines.  This is a very sleepy Wendy and her little doll.  Wendy is so sleepy that she is rubbing her eye and dragging her little dolly.  I think it is time for Wendy to get to bed.  Wendy measures four inches high, and I think she is adorable in her pink ruffled pajamas.

Today our very own Heidi at Foxgloves, Fabric and Folly is hosting Autumn Recipes & Tablescapes.

Unfortunately, I haven't had time to prepare a tablescape to share, but I do have an extremely easy and tasty recipe.  My mother started making this when I was about four years old, and it is still a hit with our family.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Brown two pounds of extra lean ground beef.  Add one small, finely chopped onion, one tablespoon of chili powder, and two 15-ounce cans of chili (with or without beans depending on your preference).  I also add one teaspoon of cayenne pepper.  Pour into a 13x9 baking dish.

Prepare two 6-ounce boxes of cornbread mix according to package direction plus an additional 1/3 cup of milk.  Pour cornbread mixture over chili mixture, covering to edges of pan.

Bake until cornbread is golden brown.  I serve mine with grated cheddar cheese and sour cream.

This is so easy, and everyone loves it.  And, it easily adapts to your own chili or cornbread recipe if you prefer.

Beatrice Again

Last Saturday I said I was going to begin to share some of my favorite pink things around my home.  I showed you the lovely pink hinged box that my husband and I purchased many years ago, and today I am showing you another Beatrice.

I've already introduced you to sweet Beatrice that greets you when you visit our home.  Remember Beatrice was the name of one of the most important women in my life.

This lovely creature is the other Beatrice in my home.  I have a small collection of Irish Dresden figures which I've had for at least twenty years.  My parents used to give me one on special occasions.  When we found one that bore the name Beatrice, we just knew she should be mine.

This Beatrice is quite petite just like our real Beatrice.  While this Beatrice is only about four inches, our Beatrice was less that five feet tall.

Beatrice was a gentle spirit with a huge and generous heart.  She freely and unconditionally gave her love to all, and we are all better for having had her in our lives.  It should be our goal to reflect her grace in the way we live.
